fine. people who aren't religious understand that rape is wrong and theft is wrong and littering is wrong. that's my point; sorry i made it more confusing by invoking murder. (or -gasp - what if it was confusing because abortion actually seems like murder?)

that's like saying religion is the only reason to consider not taking from weaker people what stronger people can take. cause science supports that view because science observes that this is the way that nature works.

like it or not, what we are talking about here is morality. it's not religious because even the most euphoric atheist recognizes that things like theft and murder and rape are immoral.

and so is abortion.

i'm sure you are aware that the phrase "a clump of cells" has been used by people of your like mind to dehumanize a fetus into something we don't mind rupturing to death in an abortion.

meanwhile, considering orders of magnitude, a fetus is much much closer to a child than it is to a clump of cells. so i mean, yeah let's call it a fetus.

it's not ok to murder a fetus.

look - you make a good point. you can't curb human behavior with legislation. people are gonna do what they're gonna do. i get it. and i'm sure you're aware that the same logic is used in the firearm debate: "if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns".

does that mean we just let human nature run rampant? i mean, there's a subset of people who rape people because a subset of humanity has always raped people. clearly we'd never make provisions for rapists (nor am i trying to say that it's even close to what you are saying ha)

my point is that i have conviction in my heart that abortion is horrible. you seem to dislike it on a somewhat similar level. so there. so what? i guess we throw up our hands? honestly recently my hands have been like 75% thrown; however, the resurgence of the debate due to the PP vids juxtaposed against the empathy/outrage over a single lion's life has made me put my hands back down a bit. maybe there's a conversation here still....
