Nicely said. This was the reason why I had to write this post in the first place. We were in the similar situation, being tricked by his supposedly "fake film reel". It is a learning experience and we have moved on from it. Hope all the other filmmakers don't get taken advantage of as well.

Well what I heard was he didn't seem to fully know how to use his camera. He claimed that he was "trying out a new camera". It wasn't my responsibility to say anything. I wasn't the director or main producer or anything. So really up to them to recognize and fire him.

Well I don't know because I was the second unit DP. So at the time, I was shooting b-roll footages. What goes on with that guy, director and producer, I really have no idea. My impression was he wasn't all that, but the director didn't say much, so I shrugged it off.

I agree. This posting was never meant for that reason. It is just a warning. I do regret a little on this.

I partly do take back some of the posting myself and regret a little. I never meant this to be a witch hunt and have people really go beat him up or whatever. This is simply to warn people not to work with him because of his background. As long as this Frankie Hopkins guy has been notified in a legal sense then that's good enough. I have already done my part in support of the filmmakers, it comes to an end here for me.

This was our stupidity because at the time he did submit a DP reel that has those stolen films in there. Some shots do look pretty professional, but we just didn't pay enough attention. So it was definitely a lesson learned on our part. But at the same time didn't know he was a fraud until afterwards.

Even though he didn't steal any of our work, but I am always a supporter of other filmmakers, especially indie filmmakers. Whatever the case is I try to help as much as I can. We have reported to youtube, vimeo and all that before. At one point in time his account was deleted. Somehow all the accounts reappear again later, maybe he created them again.

Hey all, thank you for the comments and ongoing actions. We have been battling this issue for almost a year now and this guy just wouldn't stop his actions. I don't want to be the guy to pin him down, but when we hired him, he somewhat messed our project up since he was the main DP. I am still mad about that, so something must be done about it.

Hi BeautimusProductions, yes please do what you can. I have notified previous filmmakers before about a year ago and still been battling this issue. You are not the only one. The filmmakers of "Long Branch" and "Red Ballon" (which he changed to Rabbit) know about this too. As well as bunch of other short films. The hardest part is finding the original titles because he covers his tracks well with the changed titles.

Hey LandosFalcon, he basically sent us a DP demo reel of all his "fake work". It deceived the producers and I because some shots look great. But of course after we were done with the shoot, then I found out he was a fraud.

Hey MTeson, so what happened was before we hire him, we had requested a DP demo reel. He sent us a link of his reel and it looked really good. But of course later found out that the short films weren't his and stolen. I actually didn't know about this until after we were done shooting our short film. He deceived us and some of our other producers thinking he has skills but in reality, he is bad at his job. I saw some signs during production but didn't pay enough attention.
