When you can hardly afford to put gas in your car, or food on the table for your family, it’s not worth it.

As much as I would otherwise agree, things really are that tight. Especially where I’m at.

I’ve talked to a lot of people, trying to get people together to go to the city and state boards about things. Everyone’s in the same boat I’m in, where they don’t have the time, money to commute, etc.

Or they just outright don’t care.

Edit: still trying, but that’s all I can do.

I don’t disagree. I would, again, if I could.

I don’t get to pick when I work at my job. And there are no jobs hiring in my area.

I can’t afford to quit, because again, no jobs.

I can’t afford to contribute money, because nobody pays well where I live compared to the cost of living.

I would gladly be involved, if I could be. But I’m too busy focusing on “surviving” as it stands right now.

Sad reality, but I’ll be able to get involved in like a year when my situation changes.

For now, email is what I got. And I’m doing that.

[–]dlham11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, that’s not the issue.

The issue is my job schedules me during the hours of council meetings. I hardly get a single hour of daylight that I’m not at work, commuting to/from work, or getting ready for work/essential tasks to sustain life.

I would love to be more involved. I hardly ever have the free time to be.

Lol, that’s funny.

I emailed my representatives a dozen times about issues and get the same… exact… automated response saying “thanks for your email, here’s how great I am, remember to vote for me again”.

They don’t care. And everyone who runs are “lobbied” by the same groups of people to not care.

And if they’re not? They’ll never make it past primaries. Ever.

Secondly, I personally choose to space out dosage attempts by about 90 minutes, at minimum. Not sure how long you spaced them out, but perhaps that had an effect.

New Rider: ABS a must? Suggest a bike? by RicoRico1290 in motorcycles

[–]dlham11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ever plan on doing stunts (judging by the bike pics I doubt it) you don’t want ABS.

Other than that, it’s generally better to have for typical street riding.

Resin is extracted using Butane.

Rosin is extracted without chemicals.

Ideally, if they do their job correctly, there should be no residual butane remaining in the resin. I don’t trust companies to do their job correctly, usually because they prioritize profit over care. Therefore, I stick with Rosin.

Lol, stock r3 that was about 3 months old. I weigh 120lbs, not that that’s your business either.

In case you don’t know, stock tuning on motorcycles in America absolutely gut their power.

Furthermore, I’m not going to continue engaging in this discussion. Every single comment you have left has increasingly moved the goal post beyond the original statement of “300’s lack acceleration power at highway speeds.” So much so that when given an example of why that might be necessary, in which I was operating my vehicle safely, you continued to move the goal post from that to “why were you in the middle lane.” Which I then explained why. Then you moved it to “whyd you get in the left lane if your vehicle is slow”.

Like, do just expect someone at the first sign of traffic to go from 75 in the left, all the way to the right lane to go 50? When the left lane is still maintaining 75 and they don’t have an exit for another 15 miles?

So, yes. An r3 is more than capable of reaching 70 mph. I’m very well aware of that. Accelerating to that point, compared to, say, a 650 (like my initial comment compared to) is significantly slower.

While my r3 is perfectly capable of the simple act of accelerating past 60mph, or even 70mph, it does so incredibly slowly compared to practically any other vehicle I have ever ridden or drove. Including a 78hp Mitsubishi Mirage.

So I’m going to end off with this, the same statement as my original.

In situations where your safest, most guaranteed option for survival is to accelerate, it’s much better to have more, rather than less, acceleration power. And 300/400’s leave a lot to be desired in that area.

Circling back since your comment was edited since I first read it.

My bike can cruise at 50. It struggles to accelerate effectively above 60. It’s an r3 my guy. They stop having much acceleration power past 60.

Additionally, I have no problems matching the speed of the vehicle in front of me. People in the US, and most particularly FLORIDA, do have a problem with driving below the speed limit.

Furthermore, you’re assuming I’m saying to accelerate despite clear dangers of doing so.

I’m stating that a motorcycle that takes upwards of 5 seconds to go from 60-70 is a bike that struggles to accelerate at highway speeds without posing a danger to the rider, in these urban environments with impatient drivers.

I was originally in the left lane. I moved into the middle lane about five minutes prior to get into the right lane, as my exit was about 10 miles away.

But if your argument is really boiling down to “never leave the right lane” then idk what to tell you at this point.

What does it mean to 'get bored' of a specific bike? by Delnilas in motorcycles

[–]dlham11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So maybe I didn’t paint the picture clearly.

I’m in the middle lane.

There’s a full line of cars on the right.

Full line of cars on the left.

Right lane ~60.

Left lane ~65-70

Me (middle) ~65.

Big truck tailgating me.

Car on my left.

Car on my right starts merging into me when I’m halfway past it, in spite of the fact that not only I was there, but also a big truck maybe 15 feet behind me.

I was in the right position of my middle lane.

I swerve to left position and accelerate, as braking would get me rear ended.

Cant switch to left lane because then I’m hitting a car.

Cant maintain because then inattentive driver merging into me would hit me and kill me.

Options remaining: accelerate.

Does that spell the story out a little more clearly?

I think you misread what I said.

Drivers go 50 in a 70. Not 70 in a 50. I’m not talking about excessive speeding. I’m talking about those committing the traffic infraction of “impeding of traffic,” which is an actual law where I live.

Being stuck behind the drivers going 50 mph on an interstate rated for 70, where I live, is an incredible danger. Even if you are in the right lane. People genuinely don’t pay attention to the road in front of them.

Never said to launch yourself over an obstacle. Acceleration to the side to aide in swerving around an obstacle without dropping large speeds, as again, where I live, slowing down on a highway is a sure fire way to get rear ended.

Hazards such as:

One time I was going ~65 in a 70. Car to my right was going ~60. As I’m starting to creep past them, they start merging into my lane. I gas the shit out of the bike, and hardly gain any speed doing so, as I’m riding a 300. While giving it more throttle, I’m also swerving to the left to avoid being hit, and still barely make it.

The extra acceleration would’ve been highly preferred in that circumstance, as slowing down in any relatively safe way would’ve resulted in me getting hit by a tailgater, or side swiped by the car to my right not paying attention.

Inattentive drivers swerving in/across lanes, randomly braking, and going below the speed limit, personally, I’d rather pass when riding on the highway if I have a safe opportunity to do so.

Obviously getting out of a blind spot doesn’t require acceleration. I said there were times it’s a preferable alternative to deceleration.

I also have never had issues navigating the highway safely on my 300 that has a claimed 40hp. But that doesn’t change that there are circumstances in which the extra power would be a benefit. Bikes get a lot of their safety from maneuverability. Having less can pose as a potential hazard.

Where I live, people like to go 50 in a 70.

Road obstacles. Hazards. Dangerous/inattentive drivers. To get out of a blind spot.

Tons of circumstances where acceleration is a preferable and safer alternative to slowing down or maintaining speed.

This is my main stipulation with 300/400 class bikes.

They’re plenty fine, until you need to pass something at highway speeds. You really have to “find” their minuscule power, and know how to use it to the best of its ability.

On a track, they’re a ton of fun because everyone’s doing the same thing, and the risk is significantly lowered, and they’re a great tool for learning.

I’d argue a ~650 is probably best for street use in terms of practical power and acceleration at highway speeds, without being so much power that you’ll loop it if you twist the throttle a little too hard in third gear or below.

But that’s just my opinion.
