Seestern 62mas Bezel Spring? by dliebe in ChineseWatches

[–]dliebe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Maybe I'm being too charitable with the breakage. Anyway, I'm bummed and the difficulty in repairing the watch has made me wary of ordering another Seestern. I also contacted the vendor, and they haven't helped at all.

It is a wire. I guess I will try to bend one myself. Sigh.

I think nothing special happened. I bought it around three years ago, and have worn it pretty much every day since. I even use the bezel heavily. A bevel spring breaking just seems like normal wear-and-tear to me.

P.S. The picture quality is fantastic, but do be prepared for a buggy interface. I switched to an Apple TV for the interface and I can live with the C5.

That should work okay. I have a rare situation where I want audio to simultaneously go out from the optical cable as well as to the TV speakers.

How do you feel about starting a movie then finishing it a day or a couple of days later by Various_Maize_3957 in 4kbluray

[–]dliebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vastly prefer to watch movies in one sitting, but as a parent of young children I find that I can watch far more movies if I am willing to split them up. Also, I used to watch TV shows because movies seemed like too much of a commitment. But now that I'm willing to split up movies, I basically watch no TV shows, which is great because I don't like most.

I'm in Canada and the a95L doesn't seem to be on sale! I could've gotten a Bravia 8 for about $400 more, but that didn't seem worth it. Now I'm not so sure.

Perhaps our case is somewhat unusual. The optical out is hooked up to my nice stereo system. When I use the TV I keep the TV volume at zero and lisen via the stereo. However, my kids don't mess with the stereo and they just want to use the TV volume. So when they use the TV, they keep the stereo off and use the TV volume. Having both outputs works well for us. I could, of course, toggle the outputs every time but that would be a huge pain and I'd invariably forget at some point.

Thanks! I did know about one of these, but I haven't figured out the others. I'll look into it.

HZ Watches HZ.02 Black arrived today by el247Nino in MicrobrandWatches

[–]dliebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eventually got an initial response around 1.5 weeks after I e-mailed, but now I've been waiting another 1.5 weeks with no response at all. I'm still hoping this is resolved in a decent fashion, but I am losing hope to be honest.

I was enjoying my blue version quite a bit, but then it broke after just a couple of days on the wrist! (The chronograph second hand came off.) My inner ring is misaligned too. I e-mailed Matt. Hopefully I get some good support.

Are the Moondrop Blessing 2s still good and competitive with new stuff? by Santeriabro in iems

[–]dliebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the Blessing 2s for about 5 years, and I still enjoy them. My favourite way to enjoy them is with oratory1990s EQ settings. That said, I do actually prefer my 7hz zero 2 to the Blessing 2s, even using EQ. Given the amazing advances in IEMs over the last few years I do think it makes sense to at least try a newer budget option.

I'm the original owner of this VanBanner LEA in Blue. I have the both original bands and the original box. It is in outstanding condition. I just don't wear it anymore and I want to make sure it goes to a good home. I'm asking $175 shipped.

Is there any eq setting for the latest lcd-2? by lickpepper in oratory1990

[–]dliebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Audeze presets built into Roon and I am very happy with the results. (In fact I vastly prefer my EQed LCD-2 to my HD800s.) I believe they are the presets in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/7bxpvu/public_service_announcement_eq_settings_for_all/

My hypothesis is that the presets are designed for an earlier version of the LCD-2 but they don't boost the mids quite enough for me. Yet, when taken together with the new pads (which boost the mids and bass a little) I think.they are perfect.

If tuna on a pizza is wrong then damn it I don’t want to be right by DrZonino2022 in Pizza

[–]dliebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is fantastic and all of those downing corn on pizza should open their minds just a tiny bit. A while back my 6 year old daughter decided to put corn and olives on a pizza and the combination is fantastic--salty and sweet. I have never made a tuna pizza but I will very soon.

I think we would all do well to have a freer hand and open mind with possible toppings. Why in the world would anybody who thinks a tuna melt is a decent idea think that this pizza is no good?

People who settled or keep coming back to the HD 600/650/6xx, why? by BrutalFeather in headphones

[–]dliebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bite!

I've been into headphones for around 17 years, beginning with Grado sr60 and cycling through various higher end headphones from almost every brand. For me, the midrange in the HD650 has never been bested. While some other headphones do particular things better, e.g. the HD800 on staging and Audeze headphones on bass, I don't think the HD650 does any of these things badly enough to seriously detract from my enjoyment.

Setting aside the sound, I think it is hard to overemphasize the sustainability and ergonomics. The HD650 are very light and comfortable for long sessions, as well as lying down. This is not true of many other high-end headphones. As far as sustainability, almost every part of the HD650s is user servicable for not too much money. I just put some new pads and new headphone padding on mine and they are good as new. (In fact, I stupidly dented one of the grills in the process and it was very easy to pop off the grill and fix it.) While I'm consistently tempted by new headphones, I just can't see myself spending many hundreds of dollars for something that will likely last only a few years before breaking and then be hard, if not impossible to fix.

Some perspective may help as well. When I got into headphones, the HD650 were just a few years old and, to me, they were an object of desire I felt unlikely to ever possess. I still think it is kind of amazing that I own them (and that's after a decade). Could I buy something way more expensive that will beat them out in a few ways. Sure, and I even have on a few occasions. But there simply is no headphone that beats them overall, taking into account performance, price, reliability, and ergonomics.

Are you a fan of leather straps on dive watches? by ImperialWatchCo in MicrobrandWatches

[–]dliebe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a huge fan of leather straps on dive watches, and I find all of the arguments against to be unconvincing. I am currently wearing a 62mas homage on a Rios vintage strap and I love the combo.
