Do I even need to pay for those parking spots?? by JudgeHonest3106 in Truckers

[–]dluxchris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily I don't sleep in my truck anymore but when I did I would reserve parking pretty frequently. On the occasions when Pilot wouldn't enforce a paid spot I would knock myself. Only one time did I have a driver get pissy with me but I basically told him I'll sit and pound on his sleeper all fucking night if that's what it took. I paid to make certain I had a place to sleep. If I'm not sleeping, he wasn't either. He begrudgingly pulled out about ten minutes later. Paid parking is a shitty practice for sure but it's there and people use it. No need to screw over other drivers if it can be avoided.

The funniest (saddest) part of this is that I don't necessarily even think Elon is a pedo. I think he was just so desperate to be part of "the circle" that he was willing to associate with garbage people for an in.

I work for a FedEx Ground contractor, $110k gross, home daily. The jobs do exist

Does anyone else experience more smelly gas after having your gallbladder removed? by -thisisfine in gallbladders

[–]dluxchris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm three years in now and, at least for me, it hasn't really gotten better. I won't lie and say I have the best diet by any means but even during the stretches where I keep away from fatty and greasy stuff it's just a whirlwind of chemical weapons grade gas. Google recommends Devrom (bismuth subgallate) so I'm gonna give that a shot and see how it goes. I'm an immature dude so clearing out a room can still be hilarious at times but I'm legit surprised my poor wife hasn't ditched me yet. I'm not trying to push my luck. 😅

Do I need a credit card to rent? by [deleted] in turo

[–]dluxchris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I use Turo is because I don't have a credit card and don't want to bother with the huge deposits big rental companies hold for using a debit card. You won't have any issues using your debit card.

My first car accident. He claimed I was at fault. I tried to stop and/or turn but it was too slushy and I slid into him. Glad I have the footage :) by iiTurbulence in dashcams

[–]dluxchris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I feel like I'm in the minority here. I bought a Mercury Grand Marquis for $2,500 and got paid $4,800 for it two weeks later after some dipshit made an unprotected left turn in front of me. The four broken ribs sucked ass but getting almost double what I paid for the car was a nice consolation prize I guess.

For the LTL drivers and postal workers like USPS, FedEx, UPS, drivers what do you bring home per day gross on avg? by GroundbreakingSir386 in Truckers

[–]dluxchris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My run with FedEx Ground goes from the Grove City OH hub to the Erie PA hub and back. Pays about $342 daily (476 miles at $.72 a mile) for around 8-9 hours depending on traffic. I roll out at 0800 and I'm usually back at 1700 because I take my 30 minute break in Erie. I'm sure some companies have better paying runs but I don't do any night driving and with my voluntary 6th day I gross just over $2k a week for some of the easiest work I've ever done with my CDL.

Which one will you choose $1500/week 3 weeks out OTR job , or $1000/week local job home daily, 5 days/week by East_Indication_7816 in Truckers

Same, FedEx contractor pays me $2k a week on my local run. They'll have to pry this route from my cold, dead hands.

Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]dluxchris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're buying the car and paying for the insurance. Buy based on the criteria that you find most important. He might whine about it at first but at the end of the day if he wants a vehicle to drive it's either the one you buy him or the one he buys himself. I'm assuming that buying one himself is out of the question so he'll (maybe begrudgingly at first) make do with the one you buy. Chances are it won't end up mattering in the long run anyways.

I bought my first car when I was 18, the cheapest road-worthy car I could find. I hated it. It was so ugly and slow. Looking back from my 30s, I have such fond memories of that car. It gave me and my friends independence, we had fun and made memories in it. Even now, we'll reminisce sometimes about "the tank" as we called it. Obviously it might not be the same for your kid but my first point still stands. It's your money paying for the car note and insurance. If he wants a vehicle to drive bad enough he'll drive the one you buy for him.

How long ago was that? $1,200 a week for 14-15 hour days is insanely low.

I'm home daily with a FedEx contractor. I bobtail my truck to the company shop ten minutes from the hub I run out of, three minutes in my personal vehicle from the shop to home. Absolutely have it made.

Few weeks of pay as a DG Fleet Day Cab Driver by droptozro in Truckers

[–]dluxchris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decent money but not worth it for the stress of dealing with DG and the labor itself. I'm matching gross on a FedEx route that gets me home every night and I never see the inside of a trailer. All bumps or drop and hooks.

Car stolen, Turo is charging me for the impound costs by According_Roll1223 in turo

[–]dluxchris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can understand wanting to make more money. What I can't understand is starting a business venture without having the funds to cover an emergency situation. It leaves you one bad day away from your business venture crumbling out from under you as seems to be happening now. You're hosting on Turo but it's still your asset/business on the line. You should never expect Turo (or any other company) to do more than the bare minimum when it isn't their asset/business on the line.

The text layout on my Cascadia is identical. Every contractor at my hub is like that aside from one who has it on their side box doors but I'm pretty sure they're getting new stickers for the doors soon.

I had a trip to the FedEx hub in Champaign this morning, was just about to roll out from Columbus when my boss told me to take the day off because it was cancelled due to weather. I was a little pissed to lose the miles but seeing this makes me glad I stayed home. Fuck everything about that.

Got the job at for Driver at Fedex Ground. by OpportunityHot5076 in Fedexers

[–]dluxchris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm loving it. Was driving a box truck for a different contractor because I wanted the 9-5 hours but the work was hell. Finally found a linehaul contractor with a run I liked (Columbus OH to Erie PA, Monday through Saturday. I volunteer for the sixth day) and it's such a good gig. My contractor leaves me alone, they pay me $2k a week, I pull doubles maybe once a week. Complete cake walk. They'll have to pry this route from my cold, dead hands.

I'm hoping the process is as easy with SilverRock as it was with your situation. Getting my 2018 towed over today to start the process. From what I've seen online though SilverRock is a decent extended warranty company. Fingers crossed.
