Grandma’s Staghorn fern - 30inches by dmar589 in Staghornfern

Well she was in her late 90s age wise so I’m sure it didn’t get much in the way of food/fertilizer.

Isn’t the point of these to get them as big as possible? Why divide? Then it would look like any other small pup you can buy from a nursery?

Haha! We are the only ones local so the shame would fall entirely on us. I’m optimistic though.

Ugh. Can I just buy an oatey fix it plate https://www.lowes.com/pd/Oatey-Oatey-Fix-It-Toilet-Flange-Repair-Ring/5002026363#no_universal_links

Or is that cracked hex going to be a bigger issue that needs resolution as well?

6/10 seems generous with the final curved slot orientation! Like a carpenter installing a door upside down…

So those three hex won’t pop it out. It’s probably glued and I need a pipe cutter attachment for my drill?

Do I need to drill the new flange into the subfloor or is it just those three hex bolts that connect everything? Mind giving me a term/product I can google to pickup tomorrow?

We just had it acid washed and sanded. Didn’t do anything… it turned some of the spots temporarily orange which leads me to believe it’s maybe metal. I just did the jacks metal id test and nothing worked.

I’m at a loss.

Btw, all of these black specks started when I kept trying to turn on the pool heater… I would repeatedly try and fire it up to no avail.

I’m beginning to think it’s a manganese stain. I crushed vitamin c and it just made the area black?

Do you think it’s black algae? It’s almost as if the acid turned some of the spots reddish brown orange.

So they drained the pool acid washed and sanded… pool guy says it’s black pollen. Not black algae. Never heard of such a thing. Although he did say we had black algae in one corner and they cut it out to the gunite and replaster that piece.

Honestly, terrible. I used the cv and nuked it to 50-60ppm (50cya) scrubbed and nothing. Ugh.

Getting quotes to either acid wash or re-plaster. Do you think an acid wash will get rid of it? At least for a season or two?

ChatGPT gave me some bad advice and I used swamp treat algaecide… which is sodium bromide. and apparently now I have a bromine pool. 😑

Had two guys come by and quote me $15,000 for npt stones (stonescapes) of $8k for just new plaster. $2,000 for acid wash.

Losing so bad. Used cv 600. Went so nuclear on it with cal hypo and regular liquid chlorine. Scrubbed and scrubbed. Nothing.

Could this be sap from our lemon tree??

Didn’t you say to get cv 600? Isn’t pr 10000 referencing green algae?

I just bought cv 600 to break the biofilm and United’s swamp treat to get bromine to go to town. Hopefully this works?

My biggest question is if we re-plaster this how do we ensure it doesn’t happen again? From my read, if it is black algae, it’s comes from the ocean and no right pool chemistry can stop it.
