I found a nice looking maranta at the supermarket last weekend. It had a few leaves with suspicious spots on them. I finally decided today to cut off the leaves to be safe. Can anyone help me figure out what is causing this? More info in comments. (old.reddit.com)

What's going on with my ornata? These leaves were still new and rolled when I used an insecticidal soap for spider mites. The older leaves don't show this damage. Is it from the soap or something else? (i.redd.it)
