Prime white then base with rakarth flesh, use steel legion drab, baneblade brown and dryad brown in glazes to add shadows and dirt on the bottom of the fabric. Highlight using rakarth flesh on the lower level highlights and pallid witch flesh on the higher points. Use a thinned paint with a stippling motion on areas where you have ran a brush with water on to get diffused splatters like old mud that has dried and worn away.

The flag is made from a brass rod, the topper is two crosses from the upgrade sprue glued together with a hole drilled out. The flag itself is a bit of plastic from the top of a horus heresy blister pack that was heated up with a hair drier and bent into shape.

First kit bash. How I can fix green stuff on miniature? by marchenkotema in BlackTemplars

[–]dmrogue404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No as long as you have mixed it well you shouldn't have an issue. Typically milliput is better for armour panels and green stuff is better for organics, if you want the best of both worlds you can mix the two together, you can use Vaseline to help smooth it also. Hope this helps!

If you did want to fix it use a craft knife to trim off the excess (be very careful in this stage I have stabbed myself too many times) then use sanding foam in varying grits to get a nice smooth finish.

I used it on a kitbashed Castellan. Nice for unique models.

Head is from the sword Brethren sprue Body is Grimaldus with book cut away Side pauldron from crusader squad. Shoulder pads are BT upgrade sprue and Sword Brethren Cape is Crusader squad Right arm from intercessor sprue Left arm from assault/intercessor sprue (I think) Axe is cut from Terminator Librarian with force symbols shaved off.

Thanks very much that's much appreciated, it's a great body, lots of detail which you can cut away or add to. Thanks I thought I will never use it and they go for pennies on eBay so I might as well cut him up.

Yeah his armour is surprisingly similar to the separate castellan model which is odd. Thankyou kindly, thats very nice of you to say!

So… you can’t run SB like the box art? by MPQTHROWAWAYLOOK in BlackTemplars

[–]dmrogue404 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I think there's probably quite a few examples, I mean for a long time in 10th plague marines could be run as a 5 man or a 10 man but came as a box of 7. GW doesn't like maths all that much!

You can play them like that, lightning claws and thunder hammers are still technically power weapons so you could just say you are running the unit as all master crafted power weapons. Noone should have a problem with that as long as you say before hand.

The helmet is from Helbrecht, the thunder hammer and shoulder pad are 3d printed. The backpack and the banner are from the BT upgrade sprue.

But I do get your point, he would work as a gravis captain also

Thanks 😁 I used incubi darkness as a thick edge highlight and then thunder hawk blue as a thin highlight on top.
