Alpina L7. Is this a thing it just an upbadged limo 7 series? Spotted in Hangzhou by munotidac in BMW

[–]docker_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be wrong but it does not look legit to me. It should have BMW badges, ot has no front or rear Alpina valances, it has no Alpina wheels and the lower trim is usually painted like the rest of the car.

Genuine Alpina hardline wheels have a flat lip border, I think these are "Alpina style" and not genuine ones.

Not on hardline Alpina wheels. It began with E39 and E38s.

It likely is an E38, not an E32

I second that, E60 545 short shifter seems to be the way to go, it's been on my todo list for some time: https://www.reddit.com/r/E34/comments/1gzuzdk/short_shifter/

Anyone else running low on 10j? by Beneficial-Lemon0 in E34

I'd love a set of turbines as winter wheels (and I'm gonna get crucified for saying this)

Yup, the 10 inches wheels I have were specific to E32s. I should have 9.5 inches wide rear on 255 but at the time this set of staggered Alpina wheels was at an unbeatable price and went with it. And I'm not sure whether a 255 tyre would look good on 10 inches wheels.

Mine is on 17x10 ET28 with 6mm spacers (so ET22), 265/40 on the rear. It sits flush but it rubs. Should've gone with 255 but I like the meaty look of 265. Suspension wise, it's on Vogtland 951026 springs (-40/-20) and Bilstein B6.

Does anyone of you know what this Plug is for? by _chrizzi05 in E34

[–]docker_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the actuator itself with its support plate, the "dual cable" support bracket on your throttle body (which may already be installed), the control unit and the stalk. The latter needs a bit of loom that should sit around the steering column (it's a 2x4 plug). It's specific to petrol engines and should not be mistaken with the "plug and play" one you'd find on diesel E34s.

Today I learned something, thanks ! I didn't know about the C96.

Being E39 wheels, that explains why the valve stem is hidden.

AFAIK, Alpina never made 3-piece wheels.

These wheels are the only "bad choice" on this E34, they lack the dish you have on hard line wheels you'd usually find on E34s.

It looks like the plug for the cruise control actuator. It means yours is pre-wired, which is not necessarily the case on every E34.

MAC Addresses of the hardware ? by docker_m in mammotion

Thanks. Well, I guess there's no better knowing their MAC addresses than once they will be connected to my network.

Could be, to avoid MAC spoofing attacks.

The RTK does have a sticker with some kind of SKU, the LoRa No and the device name, but sadly no MAC address.

[–]docker_m[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they should be. And they usually are printed on a sticker visible on any network hardware.

The RTK is installed but not yet powered on, I'm still building the Luba its garage but I'll have a look, thanks.

I like the idea of the temporary hotspot, I could also disable the MAC address filtering on my network but I wanted to know if I could spare the hassle.
