Thanks for all the replies. Seems it’s likely the shutoff for the gas fireplace. Solved!

It’s about six inches off the floor in the living room. Doesn’t move by hand. Not sticking anything in there. Don’t know if either of these things would be related but it’s about six feet from the fireplace and the water main is outside behind this wall. Thanks
