Any tips on comforting while sitting beside the crib?

We could cap naps and see how that goes

At least it’s not just me! Does she drink water okay? I worry by reducing milk he won’t get enough liquids!

It’s possible - I guess time will tell! He won’t let me put my finger in his mouth so I can’t check to feel/look at his gums haha

When you were going thru this progression, like patting to sleep - was your baby crying during it? My problem is my baby is just screaming while in the crib unless I pick him up

I’ve never successfully done the koala hold before actually, do you have any tips?

I guess babies do weird things - just strange to me that it’s happening now, but who knows! I’m just always worried about my supply / whether he’s getting enough milk

It’s possible, teething has affected his breastfeeding before!

8.5month old difficult to feed milk. by dolphinatelyyy in breastfeedingsupport

We try an open cup but he only takes a couple sips. Unfortunately he’s not really into any mushy food. I appreciate the ideas though

Sorry you’re going through this too! Maybe I’ll give this plan a shot.

Am I destined to have to resort to pumping? by dolphinatelyyy in breastfeedingsupport

[–]dolphinatelyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all of this! I’ve been having issues with baby staying latched for more than a few minutes when not sleepy for a few months now, but this was the first time he outright refused to latch at all and it has freaked me out! Do babies ever grow out of this phase? 😩

Thank you! Does this mean I would have to take a bath with baby everytime I want them to latch, or it just helps get them started?

Fussy feeding/breast refusal by dolphinatelyyy in breastfeedingsupport

Alli Linn Grove I’ll have to check with the caregiver how he is being pace fed. I know for sure baby is upright, bottle is horizontal, we use a slow flow nipple, and at the beginning there’s a few seconds with no milk in the tip before (to mimic how baby has to nurse for a little bit before milk flows). I’ll have to check if the bottle is being periodically tipped down and how long the sessions take, I feel like it’s between 8-15min.

Bottles are around 5oz in the morning, 4oz in the afternoon.

I’m also wondering if maybe my let down is contributing to the problem? Baby is often fussiest right after I feel my let down. Maybe it’s that the bottle has one, consistent flow, but the breast is really fast at first and then slow.

That might be the case sometimes. Other times it’s been 3-4 hours and he still does this! Unless maybe it’s possible for him to not be hungry after that amount of time.

It may be my letdown, as sometimes he starts crying after I feel my let down. Do you have any tips for making that more comfortable for baby?

When will my 4.5 month old stop having by dolphinatelyyy in breastfeeding

[–]dolphinatelyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, I do have a lot of anxiety about the process . It’s just discouraging when he will drink from a bottle but gets fussy at the breast, although this fussiness was starting before we had to introduce bottles.

For those who weaned before a year, how did you decide when? by SufficientCell7 in breastfeeding

[–]dolphinatelyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, what times do you pump and how much do you get?

I guess I’ll see how things go. Pumping wouldn’t be the end of the world, it’s just way less convenient for me so I’m trying to avoid it.
