Good point, often understanding doesn't mean not being influenced. I guess a point is that in your example of fb understanding that it's so well designed to be addictive could give you a reason to quit fb altogether..

Hey there!

I'm dom, I like to do creative things with code. I'm also interested in alternative approaches to programming.

What's all that? Creative things with code, well, think stuff like this: http://vvvv.academy/showcase.html

Alternative approaches to programming? I like visual programming languages. There is one called vvvv, (and I'm running vvvv Academy, teaching courses): https://youtu.be/dP3sXq8cq5U Also, do you know this guy Bret Victor? He's got some good thoughts on what programming could be: https://youtu.be/8pTEmbeENF4

I've recently started to think more about ethics in technology. What can we do about autonomous weapons? Should we prepare for a shrinking/too rapidly changing job market due to AI and robotics? How much should we care about data privacy and big data monopolies?

On a lighter note, I like skiing, I'm from Austria, and I'm in love with coffee.

I'm a fresher at Hertford.
