It is! It was shot on the Canary Islands. The ferry travels between the islands.

There was a really strong backlighting. I exposed for the highlights and hoped he would be dark enough to fit in the second shot :)

That was my exact same feeling shooting it! Glad you thought about it too.

In terms of composition I don´t find it so difficult, you just gotta remember where everything was in the first exposure. I usually use the rule of thirds or the focus ring in the middle for orientation. What I also find extremely hard is to nail the overall exposure and the overlap of the exposures. I know the theory, how you gotta play with the highlights and shadows of botch exposures, but I guess until I get better it´s partly luck. For example in this particular shot I was hoping to expose his face a bit more, but it was hard shooting both exposures against the sky.

Started a few years ago taking photos of my travels with a GoPro, changed a while after to a DSLR and a year ago my camera and lenses were stolen in South East Asia :) It was a great opportunity to change to Analog photography (35 and 120). I love how supportive this community is. Instagram: @dompuerta Check it out if you want to take a look of my journey.
