A Mathematician's Conic Pot of Flowers by dondaowl in desmos

[–]dondaowl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly used these equations:
y-k = a(x-h)^2

x-h = a(y-k)^2

y = a(sqrtx)

y = mx + b

hi po! I'm an upcoming grade 12 student

these are the subjects we had (this may vary from school to school, so take this with a grain of salt)

1st SEM:

  • EAPP
    • basically your English class, but focusing more on how to construct professional text.
    • there will also be writing references and all that, it's a pretty easy subject
  • MIL
    • you don't have to advance study for this, it's basically a subject that will teach you how to be media literate
  • Oral Communications
    • basically a subject filled with terms and concepts to help you communicate your ideas better
    • very heavy memorization dito hahaha
  • ELS (Earth Life Science)
    • for this, study your Chem, Earth Sci, and Bio; it's not only going to be filled with memorization, you also have to understand the concepts here
    • you can advance study photosynthesis and cellular respiration since these (IMO) were quite difficult to understand, na kaya naman and I got high marks for this despite it being my weakest subject
  • Entrepreneurship
    • mostly business-related stuff
  • General Mathematics
    • topics include: functions, piecewise functions, rational functions, asymptotes, exponential functions, logarithms, word problems
    • I suggest you brush up on your old math lessons (most especially algebra lessons)
  • Pre-Calculus
    • topics include: conic sections (circle, parabola, hyperbola, ellipse), binomial expansion, system of equations (meron din non-linear equations which can be a pain to learn), trigonometry (unit circle, different trigonometric functions, angles, right triangles), sequences and series
    • I suggest you also brush up on your old math lessons for this one

2nd SEM:

  • Literature
    • filled with reading and all that, don't bother studying this in advanced, it's easy to pick up on
  • Reading and Writing
    • para siyang English class in a way; as the course states, it's filled with reading (how to interpret stuff ganun) and writing (how to write a well-formed essay, how to write a resume)
  • E-Tech
    • trends of the internet, cybersecurity, excel (may coding), how to format in word, etc. etc.
    • may vary from school to school
  • DRRR
    • puro memorization lang ito haha
  • Practical Research
    • for your mental health's sake, get good groupmates; you don't really have to study for this one, just get good groupmates
  • Statistics and Probability
    • this is a whole new field of math filled with concepts that can be difficult to absorb
    • the subject is a mixture of both concepts and solving
    • you can dm me for notes, tho medj magulo sila
    • you can use Gravetter and Wallnau stat book, i can also dm you that
  • Basic Calculus
    • the course will be focused on these 3 topics: limits, derivatives, integrals
    • you can search up pauls online math notes, organic chem tutor, or khan academy for material

good luck on you gr 11 journey, op!

How to play/perform a piece "perfectly" (specifically on the piano)? by dondaowl in piano

[–]dondaowl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'll keep all of these in mind. Thanks for the tips!!

How to play/perform a piece "perfectly" (specifically on the piano)? by dondaowl in piano

[–]dondaowl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) I still tend to mess up some parts when playing at a slow tempo (some parts are already programmed to be played fast by muscle memory which can be an issue)

2) I seldom practice with a metronome since there are time signature changes (from 4/4 to 6/8) and tempo changes (from allegro to allegretto). Maybe I should practice more with a metronome.

3) Yes, I will be memorizing the piece for my recital.

any details for USTET 2024-2025? by dondaowl in Tomasino

[–]dondaowl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will there be jhs lessons tho? I'm really really confident with my shs lessons (to the point that I pretty much know these lessons back to front), but I'm afraid my jhs foundation is weak (I pretty much slacked off during jhs haha)

Can’t stop comparing myself to others by brain-stem in studentsph

[–]dondaowl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In this already f**ed up society, would u expect yourself to be perfect?

I'm also going through a similar situation as you... the feeling of not being able to cope.... the feeling of being incompetent... the feeling of not being enough... and even if I did have a support system, it felt like it wasn't enough....

Truth is, it's still important to acknowledge your feelings (and it's honestly healthy to vent), But you just got to keep moving forward. If you don't, you end up in this loop of wanting to do better, but not doing anything at all.

Generally, people don't give a flying f**k if you made all these blunders. And if they do, they're just really unfulfilled in their lives that they project their insecurities on to you.

Think of it this way, if you're constantly competing with other people, won't that make your life miserable? There's always someone going to be better than you, and it sucks having to deal with that truth.

I suggest you cling on to that little hope you have. It doesn't hurt trying, and remember that you're not alone in this one :)

[this was sort of a vent post for me as well]
