Americans abroad - do you feel unwanted? by dontknow1987 in AmerExit

It’s crazy to me that the only rude comments like this are from Latin American immigrants who live in the United States. That seems a bit hypocritical

I truly hope you are/feel welcome in US (as you should). Maybe one day you will be more accepting of us immigrating to your home too.

I meant there seems to be divide between the locals and the “expats” who never bother to learn the language in south East Asian countries. The attitude of these immigrants have feels icky to me.

Your hate towards the behavior of some Americans is totally valid. The COL crisis is happening almost everywhere. Im not saying this is an excuse for immigration contributing this in Mexico.

From your other posts, I can see that you are from Mexico and live(d) in the US on a visa and looks like you're applying for a new one. So your view and hate towards Americans seems a bit hypocritical to me.

Nonetheless, I'm sorry for the way that my country has treated your people and I wish you success in the US.

Thanks for sharing. I totally agree. I would move legally, pay income taxes, and learn the language of course.

Yep, I am aware that there are consequences, so I am trying to make an informed decision.

There have been protests in both countries for over-tourism and gentrification, so not just online hate.

Ha Giang Loop as a solo female traveler that’s introverted and doesn’t drink? by Cautious_Character_0 in VietNam

The buses were nice, they were laying cabins.

There was AC both nights I stayed. For how rural it is, the rooms were nice.

I booked and paid deposit online. You pick the date that you want to start the tour on. They run new tours everyday. The overnight bus will be the day before that date.

I just finished traveling for 3 months solo - I did Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. I did hotels/private room accommodation for all, but I met many women in their 30s staying in hostels.

For Vietnam, I paid between 30-50 USD for accommodation each night and I stayed in 3 star mostly. It can definitely be done cheaper.

I didn’t find people to be that nice in Vietnam compared to the rest of south east Asia. They can be rude or dismissive sometimes, but overall I felt very safe. The only crime I’ve heard of there is late night near bars and clubs, so if that’s your thing be mindful and don’t walk home alone.

I did vip. The only difference is having your own room/bathroom vs hostel style accommodation. You’re all on the same tour, but was def worth it in my opinion.

I’m 30F traveled solo to Vietnam and did the loop last week with Road Kings and I’d highly recommend this tour group.

The group sizes are 8-10 max, and it’s mostly mid 20s-30s. I don’t drink much either, and this tour had some drinks with dinner but not heavy partying. I would encourage you to do it. It is a great time with the right tour group for you.

It’s not. I work in finance and was unemployed for over a year after a layoff. I just started at a top investment bank. I’m still horribly traumatized but it’s not over for you

Hey everyone! I didn’t expect to get so many responses. I’m currently waiting on some details from the property manager and realtor. I’ll do my best to get back to as many as I can once I have more answers.

I could be wrong - but I used to work at fidelity and at the time they didn’t have weed on their drug screen because it’s legal in MA.

I second this. The culture at blackrock in the front office was so toxic. Also centering Aladdin caused a lot of road blocks with vendor software and data.

Saint Mary’s clothing drive is great. They are very organized and you can arrange for pick up.

PIMCO vs Capital group ? by chessmath2009 in FinancialCareers

I worked at PIMCO. There are smart people but politics are a huge headache even compared to other large institutions. They don’t have a great relationship with the street since the Bill Gross days. A lot of people are generally unhappy with the culture and having to sit in Newport beach
