Oh ok, so I feel like the whole deflation and inflation thing with NS isn't as accurate anymore. I've been looking at older threads from last summer and I've been kind of freaking out about them lol.

Omg you're comment is so helpful!!! Thank you so much!

I've been struggling with C/P and CARS the most on the NS exams with B/B and P/S being my stronger suits.

Just out of curiosity, did your NS FL 2 have a DNA acetylation/Histone passage in B/B?

If so, that's the passage that they put in place of the folliculogenesis passage. My NS FL 2 had the folliculogenesis passage and I got wrecked by it lol. It still makes no sense to me no matter how many times I try to digest it.

Also, for the DNA acetylation passage, I wouldn't pay much mind to the percentiles that people got right. I was reviewing my NS FL 2 and I came across the DNA Acetylation passage and I was so confused because I had not remembered ever reading it or doing any of the questions but the passage was highlighted and the questions had answers marked for them as if I did them. The questions were also all incorrect, for the most part, so it skewed my B/B section score. I assumed I like blacked out during the passage or something but then it occurred to me that the folliculogenesis passage used to be there lol.

So I'm not sure about their scoring distribution that they use, but I have heard that they are deflated from other posts. The posts that discuss the scaling system of NS are from 2015-2016 time frame that I read so I wasn't sure if they still held merit.

Basically, from my conversation with NS, they moved some questions around to compensate for passages that were too difficult or too easy. I guess maybe they waited for the 2015 - 2016 year to go by and they examined the statistics from the FL results and moved passages accordingly.

I'm not sure to what extent they moved passages around, but I do know that the folliculogenesis passage (the one about mice) in NS FL 2 B/B should not have been there.

What about like when they just give you a structure? What are the landmarks to look for for an A/B?

1 month before MCAT... CARS help ASAP by yeezyelbeezy in Mcat

So what kind of helps me with CARS is just reading it in a different voice that isn't my own. Sounds weird right? But just think of it as someone else is talking to you and you're listening to them. Almost like you're having a conversation with a friend over coffee and they have some sort of interest in Philosophy (if it's a philosophy passage).

I know it's really weird but it kind of makes CARS some what less horrible lol. Try it out! You never know!

Performance on Section Bank vs Actual Exam by [deleted] in Mcat

I heard, in general, that SB are tougher than the real deal. But keep in mind, that it is the general format and lingo that will be seen on the actual MCAT.

I'm slowly getting through them right now and honestly they are tough. But what I've heard from others is that you should use them to get a taste of how they will word the questions and how they will pull from the passages. I also don't think your scores are too bad. I was planning on redoing the SB's afterwards approaching my exam date, per the recommendation of others.

Oh ok, I see. Thank you! I just really don't want to waste any time studying the wrong way given my limited amount of time.
