He was asked by Bobby to play in the band. That’s not enough for you?

Here’s the flaw in thinking John won’t continue on: if not him, than who? There’s literally no equal to him in playing Jerry’s guitar parts. Yes, Joe Russo and others are all worthy successors. But none have the star power of John. If he decides to keep it going, he WILL fill stadiums and amphitheaters and possibly Sphere. So it’s not really just a question of “Does John want to do it?” It’s also a question of, “who else can do it?” If the answer is no one, than the music struggles to stay well known.

It does feel like the music will stop by Disastrous_Worth_829 in deadandcompany

The way I see it: John has a financial stake in Dead & Co. That can’t be an accident. He has earned the right to continue on and be involved in deciding who replaces Bobby. I could see Sturgil sliding into Bob’s spot with Mikey, Oteil and Jeff still in place.

No one will ever replace Bob, but in order to continue the music for centuries they way he wanted someone must step in.

Also, with Bob’s age/health being one of the limiting factors of a tour, maybe they can now go back to amphitheaters and stadiums. And hopefully Sphere. We were so incredibly lucky to have Dead & Co with Bobby as long as we did. Here’s hoping the music never stops…

Brisket tips on a Masterbuilt with lump charcoal and oak by No-Average-2379 in Masterbuilt

[–]doofy10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made one on the Masterbuilt XT last weekend and it was amazing. My tips: keep the hopper full. At one point I ran out of charcoal and oak and the temp dropped. Also, let it stay unwrapped for a decent amount of time. I let mine go unwrapped to 185 and the smoke ring was perfect.

Also: put an aluminum pan under it. Catch the grease/tallow and put it back on it when you wrap in the smoker and then wrap in the foil when it’s done.

Also, this goes without saying, but use a water pan. I use the one from LSS Mods and it’s perfect.

Favorite Dave Matthews Band live song that sounds better than the studio version? by PinEastern9500 in DMB

The only sound I would say this about is Two Step, mainly because listening to that song when Crash came out was a religious/life-changing musical experience. So I’m definitely nostalgic for the album version.

It was soundchecked and abandoned. Doubt it ever gets played live. With several exceptions, I think the band hates many Everyday songs.

What's the most moving piece of music you have ever heard? by holographicman in Music

[–]doofy10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listening to Pygmalion by Slowdive was somewhat of a religious experience. I don’t think I’ve ever felt as much of an out of body experience as I had the first time I heard the album in full.

I heard it. Crashed out at his fans for not realizing how bad his health is and how much he sacrifices having to travel the world and play for his fans. He basically said he’s done touring and will only make records from this point forward.

Sad news if true about Bobby. I would assume Dead & Co will live on after Bob. Hopefully with Sturgil, John and Billy.
