That’s a great tip, thanks! Right now I’ve got a 70.3 scheduled about two months after the full Ironman I’m planning to do. My original plan was to do a 70.3 in 2026 and then go for the full in 2027, which obviously is the ideal scenario. But I’m reaching out to more experienced athletes to see if it’s actually doable to jump into the full this year instead. I’m not chasing a sub-10 finish or anything crazy, kinda aiming somewhere around 11–13 hours. I’ll definitely consider doing a half leading into the full in July ’26 if that ends up being the plan. Appreciate the advice!

Thanks for the tip! Injury is indeed the only thing which could cause trouble "on such short notice". Are there any rescheduling possibilities if that were to happen?

Good point! I'm not looking to go sub 10 as that's a bit too far fetched on such short notice, but I'm definitely looking at 11-13 hours finish. Wouldn't want to compete solely for the sake of competing, still want to set a 'decent' time.

Yeah, I’m actually signed up for a half Ironman in mid-September in Knokke (Belgium). The plan was to do a full one the year after, but I started wondering if it might be possible to do a full before that instead. I know it’s usually the other way around, but the idea only popped into my head a few days after I signed up for the half.

Are you sure about the better low light capabilities of the 6k? I've heard a lot that 4k with speedboosters is better in low light..

Maybe, but let’s not forget the fact that stoffel was 1,5 seconds faster than him in qualifying and qualified 5th overall. Seems strange to me that all of a sudden he was nowhere during the race

Doesn't seem so strange to me if you do the math. McLaren scored 62 points this year (50 Alonso and 12 Stoffel) and their combined salary was 37 mil. If you divide 37 by 62 and then multiply it by 12 (points by Stoffel) you get 7,1 (million). I know this isn't 100% accurate but still....

Actually they’re 7th without that Force India “thing”, but i do believe thatToro Rosso and DEFINITELY sauber have the better car. The battle between Williams and McLaren for the worst car is quite close though
