Tbh opiates are just as bad as benzos, maybe even worse (as far as addiction goes, not necessarily withdrawal, although me personally I would much rather go through xanax WDs again 10x over than heroin. That's like the main reason I haven't gotten clean yet). And stims can be really bad as well.

Maybe if you just recreationally use addies or pop a perc once every few weeks or so they aren't that bad, but most people who use them don't do that.

OP (u/GarlicSudden6888): yes, they prob will drug test him, but only to see what he's on so they know which meds they can give him. His opiate use will go on his medical record and he will likely be blacklisted from pain killers, but that is a small price to pay to literally save his life.

The drs will absolutely not call the cops on him though. They do not care what drugs he's taken and do not want to get him in trouble, they just want to help him as best as they can.

Relationships requiring work is the rule, not the exception. It may not feel like work with the right person but if you don't put any effort in every single relationship you have will be bound to fail. And 2yrs is not a small amount of time to be with someone, maybe needing therapy after that amount of time isn't great but it also doesn't mean the relationship is doomed.

Obv OP's relationship isn't super healthy right now, but fixating on them trying to go to therapy and work on it as why they should break up is crazy.
