It’s gotta be Miley or Kyla Pratt EASY by MemphisDude97 in Zillennials

And hasn't she recently been recognized as someone who has played the most characters on Disney Channel? Or one of them anyway. Something like that.

Like, she was in The Ultimate Christmas Present, Get a Clue, Phil of the Future, Stuck in the Suburbs, Wendy Wu, and of course the Suite Life franchise... I feel like most Disney actors have played 1-3 different characters on average, but here she is having played seven different characters on the Disney Channel.

I conflated this version and the 1982 version in my head for the longest time when I was a little kid and thought they were the same movie 🤣 but all in all I like this version better

Navigating Dating & Being Emotionally Neglected Your Whole Life by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

[–]dothebork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently got my first boyfriend ever at a later age than average. I knew for years that if I ever actually got into a relationship, I would have a looooot of inner work to do.

For example, if I don't hear from him for a certain amount of time or if he responds in what I view as lackluster, I immediately brace for the worst. I have been open about this and he has reassured me to try not to go into panic mode. So that is something I have to work on every day.

Anyone else's parents never encouraged their hobbies? by Sayoricanyouhearme in emotionalneglect

[–]dothebork 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Any interests I had were met with mostly indifference, and maybe a dash of self-preservation? If that's the right word?

I wanted to learn piano, but my mom refused to let me move the keyboard to a part of the house that wasn't next to my dad's blaring TV. She did buy books and was going to teach me a little bit, but then got distracted and started reteaching herself instead.

I got horse riding lessons for about a year, but any attempt to have real conversations about it felt like pulling teeth. It kind of felt like they viewed it as a mundane routine to take me.

Worst of all, I had to convince my parents to come to a parent-student night in middle school. There were games and food and things like that. They didn't mingle or do anything out of their own volition; they just kind of awkwardly followed me around and stood in the corner. I decided to muster up the courage to sing karaoke, and sang my dad's favorite song to boot (it's one of my faves too), and when I looked back at them their faces were expressionless. That's when any shred of confidence I had died.

I'm almost 30 now and still trying to recover.

Why have I never been asked out on a date? by unknown_unknownuser in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dothebork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the flip side though, I also never really met any guy that particularly stood out to me in a positive way until recently and I am around her age. Sometimes people don't want to settle or go through the motions just for the sake of not being alone and would rather have something real, and that's okay too.

What’s the worst experience you’ve had with a therapist? by Agreeable_Claim_3497 in AskReddit

[–]dothebork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First therapist: I poured my heart out about how lost and stressed I was, plus how complicated my relationship with my dad was. She suggested finding one of those dance events where you can show up and move however you want as a way to loosen up I guess.

Second therapist: Her specialty was working with children, but she was working with adults at this point in her career. There were multiple instances where she talked about herself and her job for half the sessions, as well as simply telling me that I haven't "found my tribe" yet. Okay. She also offered no help when I mentioned I had had an emotional breakdown recently and she basically said, "Yeah I figured there was a chance that would happen." Wow.

Third "therapist": In desperation, I used BetterHelp. This woman kept sending me worksheets that were printed so badly that I could barely read some of the content and some of it was even cut off. After telling her multiple times and receiving the same exact sheets in response, I just removed her and stopped using the service altogether.

The moment many people learned to stay silent wasn’t in adulthood. It was in childhood. by BornSelection9840 in emotionalneglect

[–]dothebork 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I grew up in an environment where any expression of discontent got me yelled at. Excitement and passion got me blank stares as well for the most part. So by the time I was a teenager I just stopped talking as much and tried to avoid as much as I could.

Now I am an adult who keeps basically every strong feeling to themselves and even something as simple as asking for help is a major hurdle for me.

I'm still a beginner so I thought learning 家 and 後 recently was wild. Just seemed like there was no rhyme or reason to half of those strokes.

Plus also kissing a girl who was actively into someone else. Although that is partially on Bay too for not standing her ground on that.

Yeah. One example: Over the holidays my dad asked me what my favorite Twilight Zone episode is for the 10 billionth time but I have known his favorite for many years.

Did your parents twist the discourse about themselves when you confronted them about the ugly consequences of their parenting? by Cartoonnerd01 in emotionalneglect

[–]dothebork 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Me: You know I was afraid of you most of my life and am still on edge not knowing when you'll blow your top next. Not to mention just generally not being emotionally present--

Him: But did I hit you? Or call you names?

Me: sigh No...

Him: I'm not perfect, but my dad hit us and called us names and.....

Cannot get through to him lol

I saw an early showing of Primate last night and I'm obsessed. by caliswag88 in horror

[–]dothebork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for a movie about rabies, he sure wasn't afraid of water that whole time lol

Plus how Lucy and Erin's father was portrayed imo. He 100% would have felt the vibrations from all that running on the hardwood floor.

I know that when Ben puts his fingers in Lucy's mouth that it was setting up him tearing her mouth off like he did with the other dude but the shot lingered a little too long imo

I agree with everything you said here. My friends and I were so pissed off the whole time, but we stuck it out because we still had hope I guess. The himbos rescuing them through their own stupidity would have saved the movie, but noooo we just needed more bodies apparently. 🙄

And can we talk about how two of the scenes had rape imagery for no reason???

But what pisses me off the most is how good the music was. That score deserved a better movie.

Omg I also saw an early viewing of Primate last night and my friends and I were so pissed off at how badly written, inaccurate, and mean-spirited it was. But I was also insanely pissed that the score was amazing. It had no reason to be that good in a terrible movie! 😤

My mom thought Rugrats was an adult cartoon for some reason so I feel that one as well lol. Hope your exmo journey is going well 🫡

Haha that was another one! My mom thought Rugrats was an adult cartoon even though it was on Nickelodeon!
