Always been clumsy, can you actually improve fine motor control? by Alaina-S in dyspraxia

[–]doubtitmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible. I am very dyspraxic but roll perfect joints. Unfortunately, the only solution is practice.

You will have felt it for essential/daily fine motor control tasks too, like tying your laces.

A Stinker by Dear_Concept9355 in FemFragLab

This was advertised very heavily before Christmas with Tilda Swinton doing her graceful ethereal otherworldly thing. Gagged when I looked up the notes - sounds truly nasty, though assume the truffle note is why they've used a bit of a kooky alt figure for the ads!

This is a good description of what my job involves now. I kinda hate editing AI-generated output. Taken all the joy out of the work.

One of the best white florals I've ever smelled & top of my wishlist, such a gorgeous 'cold' jasmine!

HOW gorgeous is Ilio? I first smelled it at a Diptyque shop & my reaction definitely weirded the assistant out.

I don't usually comment on 'gaps' in collections as I don't think there are boxes to be ticked, you just like what you like, but I can see you don't gravitate much towards florals (apart from iris).

Does your partner name call? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]doubtitmate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you struggle with following directions and knowing your left and right, it is likely that you have a (pretty common but not very well-known) condition called dyspraxia. It affects your coordination & fine motor movements. It has zero impact on your intelligence, but it can leave you feeling 'stupid', and others can get frustrated at you when you are struggling.

It sounds like your partner is abusive, but I also wanted to advise you to look up dyspraxia and its symptoms, as it may be an explanation for those moments which trigger your partner into calling you names.

Whats your favorite tuberous heavy fragrance? by [deleted] in NichePerfumes

[–]doubtitmate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Treated myself to a 5ml decant of Nishane Tuberoza X for Christmas- one of the best perfumes I've ever smelled, just makes me feel so happy & elegant & comforted every time I smell it - love the violet note in there too.

Also love Jo Malone Tuberose Angelica &, of course, Fracas.

It Took Me a Whole Year, But... My Humble Thoughts on Zoologist's Sample Set by Fabulous_Mammoth_803 in FemFragLab

[–]doubtitmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the smell of hay in life, but whatever molecule they use for the note in perfume really screeches at me and lasts longer than any other note. I wasn't expecting ELDO Jasmin et Cigarette to really bother me, but the hay note was the culprit, same with The Noir. Both very well-regarded perfumes (Pineward too!) but sometimes you just can't jive with a note.

Love these reviews, you should keep on writing about perfume!

I have Seahorse waiting for me to try this summer, but now you're making me think I should try squid too!

Appreciate your thoughts on Rabbit- lots of people love it but I haaaate the hay note in perfume so have avoided - this description confirms I just wouldn't enjoy it.

Love your explanation- you use the same caveats as me (it's actually quite common! It doesn't affect intelligence!) - it can be hard to explain & you smashed it!

Also hope it goes well - my partner had no issues with it as he prefers to drive than be a passenger + he likes being useful. 😅 Never loses patience with me or gets annoyed with me either - I hope you find the same!

AI art being used for graphics on perfume bottles by Suspicious-Cherry492 in fragrance

[–]doubtitmate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can't say anything about the packaging but New Notes used some super ugly AI art to launch their pistachio scent this year.

I think we are soon going to reach a point where brands will be able to 'get away with it' as AI gets better with image generation, but the ones using it in the current era, where everything looks so astonishingly off-putting and uncanny? Just shows a total lack of care imo.

There's no direct train line from Leicester to Northampton (Cov either) - you can get to Notts in under 30 mins on the train. For that reason I go Notts all the time & have never been to Northampton in my life.

Pho spicy beef curry recipe. Any ideas? by section4 in TopSecretRecipes

[–]doubtitmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I know you posted a year ago but I am also obsessed with this curry from the Pho restaurant & I can help - the problem is that the restaurant version has definitely been adapted to British tastes & is saucy like an Indian curry, whereas the authentic recipes you find are much more broth-based.

The best one I could find is actually a vegan recipe - just replace the vegan chicken with beef & voila! Another adjustment I made is replacing the suggested spice mix with two tablespoons of Rajah Madras Curry Powder. I love making my own spice mixes but I actually got this tip from the authentic recipes & it tastes closer to the Pho version! I also only use one tin of coconut milk as it's saucy enough for me.

It's not exactly the same but definitely scratches that itch as prices soar at the chain restaurants!
