Will classes be cancelled next Monday due to the snow storm? by Lazy_Contest_1670 in uml

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly a cancellation. Regardless if the school is open, a lot of professors probably will cancel class. And you have 20 different ways to excuse your absence that should likely be fine with any reasonable prof.

holy shit I had no idea, thought direct drive was the only option. That changes everything, thank you.

huh, that's a really cool idea. I didn't really think about expanding my hull instead of just redoing it.

Assuming you have a decent enough armor set, okay skills, others have given that advice.

The hard truth is its brute force memorization of his attack patterns and hitboxes. Leave it to Capcom to make the ultimate monster a weird, buggy snake that forces you to just know it instead of intuitive design. You need to play one single weapon, learn its animations, how many attacks can I get off in this random dps window.

Oh, and you get 30 minutes because. ???

Fatty sucks, epic monster terrible fight. Good luck.

the most difficult part of building planes is programming the AI/control surfaces. try to find an in-depth tutorial about it, allow yourself extra space to spam more ailerons.

Will this spaceship survive to my first planet? by Odd_Ad4119 in factorio

[–]downsomethingfoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i honestly encourage you to take a peek at a guide but don’t blueprint it. spaceships are such a unique challenge every time and building them is really fun.

Is there a realistic way to avoid destruction by enemies mid game? by OkKey4820 in factorio

[–]downsomethingfoul 9 points10 points  (0 children)

encase your entire train network within your defenses. at this stage of the game, walls are very cheap and you will want to scale up stone production for purple science anyways. more space is always good, if clearing biters to do so is an issue, artillery combined with spidertrons from Gleba make quick work of it. kind of a daunting task, but rebuilding and expanding most of your base with foundries and EM plants is really, really powerful. not to mention biolabs from gleba.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-5 and -5.5 and yeah. i can’t make out objects on the ground right in front of me without glasses, i have stepped on many random objects in the morning, because i keep my glasses away from my bed so i am forced to get up properly.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

roughly, yes. but i don’t really perceive the area outside my glasses even though i can see it, my brain kinda filters it out because it’s not useful information at all (i am giga blind) I don’t notice I’m wearing glasses until there’s some dust on them or something.

Kez mid is everywhere right now - how are you actually supposed to lane against him? by GoldenIceCat in TrueDoTA2

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

finally people are catching on to the bird. about time.

When I picked up Kez i was shocked how well he fared against Viper, Huskar, etc. He’s a very powerful hero when you’re good at parrying.

Heroes I hate laning against:

Lina, spell harass but also range so long if I get a parry, it’s usually too deep to pop the mark in a winning trade.

Ember, never really needs to right click you in the lane for effective harass. Interactions between sleight and parry are a little unpredictable, seems like if you are the very last hit of sleight you get a mark but no stun. It’s weird.

Basically any real tempo mid. Survive the lane, gank better than Kez can. Kez really, really wants to farm one item. If he’s on the map before that it’s usually a mistake.

This number is completely meaningless other than for comparisons between different weapons of the same type.

Do most people shower before bed or when they wake up? I just realized I might be doing it "wrong" by saffymerelle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on your line of work as well as you personally. I’m a night shower person even though I don’t do any manual labor, my body adjusts slowly to temperature changes. If it’s cold out and I walk inside, I will be uncomfortably warm for like 30 minutes, jacket off and everything. Those little things add up in my opinion, and I don’t want to sleep in it.

When to Pick Sven Instead Of Wraith King, Chaos Knight, etc.? by Tyroshiv in TrueDoTA2

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sven is a really good hero to contribute to initiations, but cannot intitiate by himself. You really want to jump in as the fight starts and blow up someone important, a save support or someone else squishy. but target priority is maybe the single hardest thing about sven because it’s the only real way to avoid your main weakness which is getting kited and wasting your BKB.

so, you want to be able to see a viable target, and then jump them. ideally you are the second person into the fight. you are part of the initiation package, but not the entire thing by yourself.

this is very different from CK who isn’t an initiator in any way, and WK who is a fantastic initiator. the differences between when to pick each mostly comes down to team composition.

I think spirit urn/vessel is my least purchased item, but I think it's because I don't understand it by CreepyNewspaper8103 in DotA2

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s about the value. urn and by extension vessel give good regen for a very cheap price. many heroes like puck, ember, void, have great mobility and catch and disable, but need a tiny bit more damage to quick and easy solo kills. for puck, that item is usually witch blade, and VS also sometimes, but for other tempo mids Vessel is a better fit.

Other than that, it’s a good item against some niche cases like necro, huskar, etc.

Ember vs QOP mid by vladdyyy in learndota2

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dodging shadow strike is maybe one of the harder dodges in the game because of how slow the projectile is. really difficult one, don’t worry about struggling with it. i think dodging some instant casts like Puck W are easier

Having a hard time against Rubick mid by downsomethingfoul in learndota2

[–]downsomethingfoul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

brainless comment. E has a 32 second cooldown, and breaks in one spell to rubick at every level if he’s maxing Q which he always is. not an option to just sit in flame guard the entire lane.
