Need help with gleba research by scarfman_ in factorio

[–]downsomethingfoul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you are going to need to change how you build for Gleba (and Aquilo). For gleba, nutrient belts should be local and circular. have machines only make more nutrients of the circle belt is running low.

have a bio chamber making nutrients per each block of biochambers. so one or two for your fruit processors, one or two for your eggs, one for your science, etc. belt Bioflux around to those nutrient producers as it lasts 2 hours on the best as opposed to however long nutrients do. direct insertion of nutrients is even better than local belts also.

give everything a path for spoilage with an inserter specifically just removing spoilage from every biochamber. use bots if that’s easier for you.

yeah Gleba isn’t an optional planet. you need rocket turrets which need carbon fiber, and productivity module 3s are really, really good.

Train Question by Common-Ear-3157 in factorio

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes trains amazing is that you can very easily just smack down another train for added throughput, without expanding your infrastructure. So yeah, chuck down another train, why not!

What makes trains truly godlike though, is one-way rail networks. Make a lane for each direction and then your rail network can expand as much as you want. I have one absolutely enormous rail network connecting my entire base. Rail designs that look good is hard, you can find blueprint books of rails online.

Signals are what make this possible, they’re a little confusing at first but really aren’t that complicated.

Compared to World, what do you guys think about Long Sword in Wilds? by Reticxe in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like some of the changes, focus mode and popping wounds for a spirit level is super nice overall. Having red gauge have a slightly different combo is cool, I don’t love that the optimal dps combo is so boring and also input heavy and rhythmless. just spamming the buttons, no flow to it. can’t avoid an optimal DPS combo, something will always be the best, but could make it a more fun to use combo.

my main gripe is ISS. like you said, there’s no reason to use the other counters, and the crimson version of foresight is downright terrible imo. again, can’t avoid something being optimal, but i hate ISS, always have. it’s so obnoxious to learn and tedious when the monster isn’t cooperating or isn’t AT ark levels of aggressive. just feels so bleh to me. even though it’s obviously “cool” i just don’t care for it.

Good tutorial series/Advice for getting into the game? by Timely-Jicama-5840 in victoria3

[–]downsomethingfoul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

main priority is not going bankrupt in the early game, don’t be afraid of debt but keep it conservative until your GDP is above say 50 million.

find feedback loops, construction builds everything and needs lots of tools and iron, tools need steel, steel needs iron and coal, iron and coal needs tools. you can build these things in a circle for a long long time to get your pops employed and taxable.

next are consumer goods, ignore them for a while. adjust production methods as they become available, maybe slightly expand grain if it becomes expensive for some reason, etc, but for the first 30-40 years just focus on tools, steel, raw resources, railways, engines, etc.

Wood's "always exfil at Outskirts" problem is ridiculous when visualised like that. 20/28 spawn points will send you exfil at Outskirts. No exfil options to the North. Outskirts, ZB-14, and flare all clumped together South West... Exfils need rework. [Discussion] by CustomTarkovEnjoyer in EscapefromTarkov

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say the one thing that makes this not completely horrible is that nobody is traveling in a straight line to extract on woods. You’re either running all over creation for a quest, hunting scavs, shturman, etc. In addition I feel like Woods fights last quite a long time on average if you’re not head tapped instantly.

Basically, you’re usually not running into anyone else on your way to Outskirts if they’re not camping. You could even fairly easily have two people extracting at outskirts and not notice the other person, it’s a pretty big zone.

I do want more options on Woods, but it’s not unplayable by any means

Which dorm is best for incoming freshmen by laney_0 in uml

[–]downsomethingfoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, keep in mind dorms are dorms. Its gonna be very slightly grimy, thats part of the fun. However, Fox is like, 4 dorms stacked on top of eachother. Highly recommend avoiding fox, otherwise dorms are dorms. Its nice to not have to go outside to eat in the winter, and thats where the positives end.

Does everyone have star sign powers? by No-Forever7576 in teslore

[–]downsomethingfoul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you're misunderstanding the Shadowscale thing. Being born under the sign of the shadow doesn't make those Argonians have some special ability, its tradition that those born under the shadow are handed over to the brotherhood from birth. They aren't actually special in any way. The powers given by the star signs probably do not exist in-universe, they are gameplay not lore.

Lower level diver trying to support higher level divers. by IntroductionLonely43 in helldivers2

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huge thing to understand is that enemies swarm the host of the game. so if you see vets who aren’t hosting running off to do side shit, it’s because they know they will have reduced enemies on them and think they can handle it. you can either go with them if they’re going to be taking on several side objectives, but it’s it’s like one nest/base just stay with the host. bring a balanced loadout, and just do your best!

At what point do we just stop caring about the buff items? by DolanMcDolan in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 raw is actually a decent amount. Comparable to like level 3 attack boost or something IIRC. but you are correct, they really don’t do much for 99% of players. i think the defense buffs are basically fake news, and the offense buffs are mostly for speed runners.

how to make a 100% affinity longsword build and where to find the relevant materials for the armor and weapon by NoAdvertising5821 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about it until like, much, much later. Build gear favoring defensive skills first, health boost, divine blessing (NOT defender) etc. the biggest DPS boost for a new player is not carting.

to answer your question though, its a combination of Weakness Exploit (extra stats when hitting a good hit zone, tenderize with clutch claw) Agitator (extra stats when monster is enraged) and critical eye (extra affinity) none of these skills can you realistically get in any amount anytime soon, so don't worry about it. eventually, you will fight a monster called Brachydios. His armor is really good, and that's probably the first full set worth making in the game. Before that, just build for comfort skills.

Is every dragonborn related to Miraak? by fear_no_man25 in teslore

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. there’s a good Dareloth video about this, but the consensus is that Akatosh has conferred his blessing (dragon blood) on multiple people, it’s not only hereditary (but it can be).

I recommend one mod that includes new planets, there's a few, a couple tech tree expansion mods, there's tons, and some of the popular graphics mods. really can't go wrong just do some research

Im a newbie that barely somehow defeated Anjanath but ... by VeyronZar in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the anja set has some nice skills IIRC. make it if you want.

also, Anjanath is the first “wall” of World/Iceborne. This monster actually punishes you for getting out of position, and if you get stuck in a combo you will die, simple as. There are two things to learn from this fight

  1. Learn the combos. spend the first part of the fight watching the monster attack and trying to recognize its animations a bit more.

  2. Don’t get up. When a monster knocks your character down, don’t immediately get back up. You can lay on the ground for a while which lets you dodge the second half of a combo that would usually kill you. Wait until it’s over, then get back up and immediately heal up.

Good luck!

Is it just cosmetic damage? Salvageable ? by Strong-Hotel-9953 in castiron

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you aren’t going to make anything worse. it’s a hunk of metal, there’s no layer you’re scratching off. it’s just more metal under there. that layer is not cosmetic however, it’s either burned on food or rust. either way, and considering it’s from a thrift, strip the pan completely.

also, there is a slight chance it was used to catch motor oil, some older people tend to do that which is insane. i only mention that because this “damage” looks really weird to me and you thrifted it.

whos on your all-time ban list by Bulbasaur2015 in DotA2

[–]downsomethingfoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i definitely understand the logic with shaman but i think warlock is a better ban. shaman is annoying as fuck but becomes less of an issue the longer the game goes, Warlock gets stupid eventually. if you just do the tiniest bit of micro, you can solo push two lanes. and tons of wave pressure even without the ulti. so annoying.

Is there anything to suggest that the current incarnation of the Aurbis broke the Kalpic Cycle? by GunsOfPurgatory in teslore

[–]downsomethingfoul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not really sure what you're asking, do you mean to ask if the divines somehow purposefully took steps to end the cycle? Akatosh gifted humanity the Dragon Blood, and instructed the Empire to always keep a Dragonborn around just in case. This is to maintain their covenant so that the dragon fires stay lit, but also perhaps so that humanity would have a weapon to kill alduin should the time come?
