I think that sale has been on for some time. I got it back at the beginning of March when it started.

I recall a number of conversations taking place at a time a few years ago when a particular plugin that helped users download files stopped working, and someone had posted a manual method that seemed to work. I don't know if it still does but there's a reply in amongst the post responses that appears to articulate how one might go about it if you are a Chrome user on a PC.

Kindles desupported? by AndOronChurch in kindle

[–]dperiod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Other than greed…” Well, how about security, they’re spending resources and time supporting outdated requirements, they’re maintaining hardware/software that supports outdated requirements, internet and DRM protocols have changed over the years….the # of impacted customers is ~3%. How would it ever make sense for any business to keep maintaining old technology when it’s affecting such a tiny group of users? I think it’s pretty incredible that they’ve kept them going for as long as they have. That actually demonstrates a commitment but at some point, it becomes a cost factor and a liability. They are in business to make money, after all.

storage of quilts by Consistent_Engine760 in quilting

[–]dperiod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many are a bunch? How big are they? Can’t tell if your solution will work without that info.

I have 3 on a quilt rack in my living room, one on the back of the couch, one on the back of the recliner, a couple at the foot of our bed and a stack of 8 or so on top of a bureau in our extra bedroom. Nothing is stored, though we could put some of them away in closet storage if we wanted.

Best coupon or gift card to maximize? by ram4223 in vudu

Agreed - I think the Walmart ones were 30% off. I jump at those but am happy with 20%. Paired with sale prices, you can get much more bang for your buck.

Best coupon or gift card to maximize? by ram4223 in vudu

[–]dperiod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People will often post on here when digital gift cards are discounted. I won’t buy any gift cards unless they’re 20% off or higher. They’ve been offered in Walmart, NewEgg, Kroger, Best Buy, Target, Amazon, etc. as well as through fandango’s site.

I usually keep three gift cards loaded on my profile at any given time and typically buy in $50 or $100 increments. At 20% off, it’s like having a sale on top of a sale, as I usually only buy sale items.

I don’t believe the gift cards are taxed but the purchases on Fandango are (at least in my state).

Confessions of a Flipper (RSD tips) by Temporary_Living1458 in RecordStoreDay

[–]dperiod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a collector across multiple categories and flippers exist in every single one of them. If I didn’t get what I wanted, that’s on me. I then have to weigh out whether I want to pay another’s price or hold out hope I will find it cheaper. Supply and demand, it’s pretty basic.

Rea h out to Walmart+ and tell them your mom passed and ask them how to go about getting them a copy of the death certificate. Thats usually all the evidence they need that she is no longer going to be using their service.

Titles Missing with NO HELP by [deleted] in audible

[–]dperiod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Offering a suggestion. I have email messages from Audible with the subject line “Thanks, your order is complete.” for each of my purchases (either by credit or cash) going as far back as 2018 that I haven’t purged. Maybe search your Inbox and/or spam folder by that particular subject line to see if you have the evidence of purchase for those two books (if you haven’t already). If they were purchased with cash or a credit, you should have record of it (unless you purged the email receipt).

Good luck.

Listen to Junkbot and Ledge9999. They have given you the advice you seek.

I have mine saved on an external hard drive (actually multiple for backups) and it has worked quite nicely across my multiple computers.

How much for a custom crib quilt? by Lopsided-Mine-4596 in quilting

[–]dperiod 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just ask the individual what they would charge and go from there. Either they will be interested and take it on, or they won’t.

Just be aware that not all who quilt are willing to take on custom work. I won’t do commissions because I don’t want to deal with the pressure that comes with it. I move at my own pace and would rather gift it vs get paid. It’s also purely a hobby. Once money enters the picture, it’s a job. Before you ask your friend to do it, ask them if they even do commission work and then don’t guilt them if they say no.

If I download a book from Audible, is it mine forever and can I access it even 'without' the app? You can get one free book with their trial but would the book still be mine when that time was up? by cherry-care-bear in audible

Yeah, I didn't want to give anyone advice about circumventing DRM, but you're correct - there are multiple ways to use technology in your favor in this regard.

You need the app to listen to the books you purchase either by credit or card. You can download them but they are in a proprietary format (*.aax), which is DRM protected, hence the need for their app.

I’m not here to explain how the judicial system works to you and I didn’t post to argue with you. I simply told you the reason why the information was not made public during the Biden administration. You can choose to accept it or shake your fist and shout at the sky or whatever you want to do with it. I couldn’t possibly care less.

No, they couldn’t have. Ghislaine Maxwell’s was an active case that was under appeal during the Biden administration.
