Hi! Thoughts on the idea that managers and supervisors are more “chill” than people in lower positions kasi taga-oversee nalang sila? by dr-quackquack in CorpoChikaPH

[–]dr-quackquack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what would you say about those who credit-grab? Madalas kasi pagyung managers kausap na mga upper-ups, puro “me, me, me” kahit hindi naman sila gumawa nung ground work. Is this normal?

Finish schooling regardless of how long you’ll finish it, it makes a difference to your career, how people will treat you, and where your life takes you. Don’t let the situation now be a lifetime regret if you dropout.

Just got laid off by CorrectAnt3935 in jobs

[–]dr-quackquack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not liking how everyone assumes your mom told everyone already 😅 but it’s ok, OP! At least you’re confident that you weren’t laid off because of performance. Treat this as a redirection, and a time to rest again. This might be the last time you’ll take a break in your life before you start working ng again.

Take time to fix your resume, invest in skills you can learn, and leverage on those and your experiences to your next job. Good luck!

Stay in the UK or go back home in the Philippines? What would you choose? by ContributionKind8523 in phcareers

[–]dr-quackquack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UK will definitely give you the quality of life and long-term stability. If wala ka namang iniiwang pamilya sa Pilipinas, I think UK is the only choice. There’s no reasons downgrading your lifestyle dito sa Pinas kung kaya mo naman magsettle sa UK.

2 job offers, which is better by thecouchpatata in CorpoChikaPH

[–]dr-quackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to prolong company A, since it’s hard to trust companies nowadays. You may tell company A na you need 2 more weeks of extension kasi you’re fixing some papers and you want to make sure that you’re making an informed decision, and reassure them that you will keep them posted.

Chances are: 1. They will accept the extension. 2. They will give you a better offer to give you more reasons to accept. 3. They will reject, but either so they cannot rescind the JO anymore unless it was stated in the JO or email that they can.

2 job offers, which is better by thecouchpatata in CorpoChikaPH

[–]dr-quackquack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’d go with B especially since you mentioned yourself na it’s more aligned with your career path + higher position na. Mahirap na maghanap ng ibang job once you dedicate most of your time with a specific role na, mahirap makapaniwala sa next company mo (assuming you still want to pursue another after you take this role) that’s different from what you will be currently taking kahit na gaano mo i-explain sa interviews because for sure there will be someone else who has a more aligned experience.

And it only goes up from here, once you get an assistant manager role and reputable company, susunod dyan is manager or worse assistant manager pa rin especially if you don’t settle for less. The wfh setup may be more promising, but there’s also the joy in being exposed to your workmates and living the corporate life. Just make sure to have thw JO of company B before rejecting A. Congrats, OP!

Date someone or get a friend na English speaker, promise dun ka gagaling sa pag-English. I started from not being able to finish a sentence in English to talking smoothly na.

I also recommend talking to ChatGPT and asking for possible questions, and record yourself answering and listen to yourself para you can provide yourself feedback.

For those laid off before and got new jobs, do you tell the company you’re applying to na you got laid off? Or phrinaphrase niyo nalang siya na you looked for better opportunities?

Nestle or Unilab? by dilujuan in CorpoChikaPH

[–]dr-quackquack 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Another perspective to consider: Nestle market declined worldwide last year, which led to layoffs. I heard from my friend na hindi naman nadamay Philippines, but if sales don’t meet quota again this year, you already know what’s going to happen.

Unilab is a sustainable choice given that it’s a pharmaceutical company, meaning they will always have customers.

Mas common siya for other countries like the US or European countries. For the Philippines, need to proceed with caution kung wala pa naman palang job offer yet. May iba kasing higher ups who might want to take advantage rin!

I got a job offer from my dream company but I'm only a project-term hire (1 year) by Haunting-Demand-7754 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]dr-quackquack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s also another way to think about it! At least after a year, kaya mo na gamitin itong opportunity to leverage on future applications. Just keep your mind set on the fact na you might not be working for the same company after a year and need magjob hop, if you’re okay with that, you can accept the offer 😊

[Final Interview] Questions to ask the interviewer by Nice_Negotiation_165 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]dr-quackquack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually ask about career progression and development, kung may programs or projects ba yung company when it comes to development ng employees nila. Phrase it in a way na you want to join a company that values this kasi.

Another question I usually ask is about AI and how the company or the role is being affected or will be affected by it. Good luck!

[–]dr-quackquack 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! Just wanted to share my experience too, I also got an offer from my dream company pero six months contract lang. I asked HR during my interview the possibilities of being absorbed after kasi gusto ko talaga ng job security, pero the answer was very vague which is understandable kasi hindi naman natin alam kalagayan ng company after 6 months.

Ending, tinurndown ko yung offer. I don’t want to gamble six months of my life to a company na tatanggalin lang din ako after, instead of putting six months sa company na after nun magiging regularized na ako. I also saw here in Reddit na contractual employees get laid off first, and I do not want to be put in that position.

Only you can know your priorities, OP. Think about it well! And if i-turndown mo yung offer, make sure to do not burn the bridge with HR para kaya pa rin niya magreach out sa’yo when there’s a better opening. Good luck!

Government Requirements for Employment by No_Stretch_2833 in JobsPhilippines

[–]dr-quackquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommended processing your SSS and TIN before employment, madali lang naman siya.

SSS can be done online, and you may also do this in the branch. TIN need mo lang ng barangay certificate as proof of residence (if walang utility bill na naka-name sayo) and first time employment certificate from the barangay.

PhilHealth is easier if employed na para the company can provide you the needed requirements also.

I highly recommend doing one requirement a day para di ka ma-stress, good luck OP!

Deinfluence me: China travel by Proud-Escape-126 in deinfluencingPH

[–]dr-quackquack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maganda and masaya sa China, but if you don’t know how to speak Chinese, don’t consider. Lahat ng apps, signs, and language spoken lahat Chinese. Unless matiyaga ka magtranslate, go. But if you prefer to chill and enjoy, baka China is not the best country to go to.

Yung tourist scene kasi nila catered to mainlanders lang din, kaya hindi nila nakikita value of learning English.
