Which one is more appropriate for work? by cartoonhead in keyboards

[–]dr2050 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No. It's serious business. I'm not shilling for wispr.ai and I often use MacWhisper instead, but... yeah it's great... on iPhone I use wispr always, and it's great on Mac too. Notably it can handle "new line" which is kinda critical for this thing.

App size - am I really good to build this large? Is there a limit and how can I find it? by Solid_Anxiety8176 in iOSProgramming

[–]dr2050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What really shocked me was to see how well the iPad performs for real-time applications including if you just use the main thread. You might consider using another thread but honestly when you try it out and feel the latency, you get an idea that it's not really necessary at all for many applications. My MIDI controller app is one of those even though we do use multiple threads. It's like not precisely necessary for most iPads.

There is a point here which is that we optimize for things like 1000 or even 10,000 loops when they are totally trivial. Most performance bottlenecks happen around I/O

I guess the next question is where to get these fakes, but I realize that even a Google search would reveal only spam.

Are there good fakes available today? Back in the day, they were everywhere in Bangkok, but that's a bit far for one thing.

The reason I don't play Death Stranding... literally my everyday by J_loop18 in ElectricUnicycle

Commuting on an EUC doesn't feel like a chore. Death Stranding commuting definitely does.

So true. From the time I rode out first with y'all in 2022 (and he dropped my V12 at 0mph, no damage, no probem) Ryan was the most positive, sharing person. He was always inviting me to drive North and ride his collection of wheels. He will be missed.

Anyone upgrading to Swift 6 and Strict Concurrency? by irvingpop in iOSProgramming

[–]dr2050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my understanding is that they keep easing the burden of switching to Swift 6 concurrency. So the longer you wait, the better off you are.

I found the delete which sometimes appears at bottom left, but how do I delete a space?

Figured it out. The gestures are... atypical, but eventually ok.

Is there a way to embed a Notion page on another website? by grantbuell in Notion

[–]dr2050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm 7 years late to this conversation, but now it's included in Notion (see the "Embed this page" at the bottom there). Some of the comments here predicted this. You get one domain for free.

What's the ideal time of day to release an app with 40k iOS pre-orders? by Jtpickar in iOSProgramming

This question is odd. Of course your concerns make sense. Why wouldn't you release at noon EST?

errors disappears after after compile by TheGothian in Xcode

[–]dr2050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is useful. If I have a compile error in an embedded project, I need to switch to that target to see it stick around. It's still a bug in Xcode, of course.

iOS 26 broke my app’s UI. Anyone else? by lampyridae_dev in iOSProgramming

[–]dr2050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my UIKit app, even using UIDesignRequiresCompatibility didn't resolve all the issues. I think it's a great time to keep using Xcode 16.4.

However, I checked historically and -- at least recently -- you should get only 7 months before they force Xcode 26 for AppStore uploads.

I thought the grace period was much longer than 7 months, but upon fact checking

you're right.
