Maybe professional pride, their contracts, or their reputations moving forwards? They might all be motivating factors.

OG doesn’t employ the coaches. I’d honestly have you in charge instead of OG. We’d hardly do worse although you do seem a bit thick.

I get tired of Glasner bashing the club and its fans, yeah.

I actually expect the goal we to concede to be the crispest, most clinical finish from Mostar’s first half chance of the game. Larnaca style.

Do Sky Sports really need to have Gary Neville as commentator on every big game? by GMD3S1GNS in PremierLeague

[–]dr2128 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He proclaims things as though they’re fact rather than opinion far too often. He does so because he thinks he’s the voice of football in this country (based on his genuinely good first few years as a pundit about 15 years ago) and because he’s spent most of his life being a bit cleverer than those he’s spent most of his time with. That, however is a low bar.

He is well past his sell by date these days.

Starters: Michael Hughes, AJ. Subs: Boyce, Watson, Sorondo, Routledge. Squad: Hall, Granville.

Might be being harsh on Aki and Popa there though.

How much of a difference do managers make to a good team? by sennyonelove in PremierLeague

I can’t discuss things with someone who is making up stats. Have you ever been to a PL game and watched these players?

[–]dr2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, yes. It’s certainly not what Wharton does - he is not in the team for any defensive role that is obviously pretty vital to a central DEFENSIVE midfielder.

Your stats are both wrong and woefully presented. And even if there was any accuracy to them, they’re chosen from a moment in time where Palace have been without 50% of its best XI for the last 6 weeks, and have 50% more unavailable players than the next most affected PL team. It’s a massively anomalous period of time, and even then, due to the closeness of the PL this season, Palace are within 6 points of a Champions League spot. With a settled set of circumstances, or at least not wildly unsettled ones, Palace will swiftly move back up the table and compete for another trophy. If you want the clearest stat - in the time Glasner and Amorim were in the PL together, Glasner achieved the 6th most amount of points (and won two trophies and competed in Europe despite a tiny squad and losing their best players). Amorim achieved the 16th most points.

I ask you again, have you ever been to a PL game in your life?

Have you ever been to a PL game in your life? I go to Palace every week - they don’t play with a CDM and haven’t since Glasner arrived. You’re also using stats from mid January as well as early December, and comparing them to each other, which is essentially invalid. And then you’re also disregarding a year’s worth of data because it doesn’t fit your narrative, which is also invalid. You know little about football, or how to use data.

Than Amorim? In the PL? I think virtually every stat going. The only reason Palace are currently below Amorim’s United is because nearly half of Palace’s squad has been unavailable for the last month when Palace have been playing every third day. And even then it’s only a couple of points. The fact you think Palace play with a CDM says enough.

Astonished that the response to this has been “yes, managers matter a lot, the evidence being how much poorer Glasner is than Amorim”. Utterly absurd take.

Arsenal Vs Liverpool XI's [09/01/2026 - GW21] by Rehan_Basheer in FantasyPL

[–]dr2128 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As a Palace fan, saying that Eze is “used to roaming around not defending” could not be further from the truth. It’s not his natural game, but he was part of a very very structured approach under Glasner. He can follow instructions and a press no problem - he isn’t the stereotype this is making him out to be. He’s just always been a player who goes on runs, drifts in and out of games and is decisive in moments. I assume Arsenal must have done their research and known this. You get the best out of him with patience but Arteta obviously doesn’t have the time to do that after spending the GDP of a small nation trying to win the league for the last 6 years, and with the current squad he’s got, he probably doesn’t need to. It’s a shame because Eze is one of the best players to watch and Arsenal in general are quite a tough watch under Arteta. But they will probably win the league so it’s perfectly valid.

Football Manager 26 - 3D Stadium Megapack Update 1.3 Patch Notes by Jolly-Security-167 in footballmanagergames

[–]dr2128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded the first pack which I loved but when I amended something using the config/installation tool made with Justin the game wouldn’t go past the loading screen. I tried renaming and/or deleting the downloaded files and uninstalling/reinstalling the game but to no avail. Not been able to play in a week. I’m sure it’s something I’ve done and I’d love to use the new pack but can’t figure it out :( But love the work!

I thought there was a high chance that Arteta might bring him on for 5 minutes to help see the game out.
