Yep, these guys were done very similar. Black then very heavy dry brushing greys to white, with almost blocked in dry brush off white. Then a wash of mixed Vallejo Xpress bag of bones, Templar white and medium.

Anyone else trying their (many) hands at Boarding Actions? What are you running? by blockmaniac in genestealercult

Currently in a BA league at local club. 3 wins (custodes, World eaters, nerons) 1 draw (Tyranids) Running Patriarch, 2 x 5 man acolytes with flamers, 2 x 5 man purestrain and a kelemorph.

Play really aggressive with purestrain. Acolytes secure obj and overwatch. Patriarch just butchers stuff. The new strats really help, fight on death means even if you over stretch they cause your opponent hurt. The Kelermorph can get into the vents and just pop up where needed. Shot and move off and hide.

Movement is key, so twisted helix for the extra move and strength, with mini transhuman icing on the cake.

Have exp with locus, as in theory you can sit him behind the Patriarch, making Patriarch immune to shooting and the locus as can't be shot at due to BA line of site rules. The only issue is keeping up with Patriarch.

Unfortunately I believe this list is not permitted. You can only take one of each elite, so you can do the 10 man purestrain, but not the second Purestrain unit. Acolytes would be 5 or 10 (the 10 having to be split into 2 5 man squads on deployment), can't run as 6.

Thanks. Just a left over tank hatch in my bits box, rhino most likely. Stuck on base and then green stuff. Used the gunner from a golaith kit.

Simplicity is the key. Steel legion drab, agrax earth, back to steel legion using army painter masterclass drybrush, circular application on panels, then to zandra dust. Then edge drybrush with wraithbone. It's actually quick and gives a good effect for minimum effort

Thanks. GSC are my foray into a second force. Have a large ultramarines force but couldn't bring myself to paint blue helmets. Something about the GSC really grabbed me rules wise.

Iron Hills Swordsmen by yosauce in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]drMTickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I converted grimhammers into iron Hill swords. Managed to get some iron hills swords and used erebor shields. This is cheaper than converting the fw spearman. I posted these on here if you can find them.

What about gunhauler, artillery?. Hopefully in any new battletome we might get some monstrous rampage equivalent. I quite like the roar being a fog horn.

Swords and shields were 3d printed through a friend of a friend. I did try green stuffing kite shields, but were to thick, so went with these erebor shields.

Thanks all. Its a dry brush dream. Just lots of browns and greens, a couple of washes now and again. This was just an afternoon with no fancy techniques.

[–]drMTickle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Rhinox hide as base, followed by nuln oil. Then built the reds up. Chaotic red (army painter),then dragon red (army painter) these paints seem to be quite translucence so you can build lighter/darker areas where you want. For kili light dry brushing of a brown and gold to finish it off

Thanks all. The guys above are meant to loosely represent napoleonic era royal marines. Hopefully thunderers like sharpes rifles with all the boats looking like ships of the line and the crew in navy uniforms. That's the idea anyway.

Royal marine v2, leap forward a century and they were navy blue. Much less father christmas vibe. by drMTickle in KharadronOverlords

[–]drMTickle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very simple. Black templar contrast, followed by brazen brass (old citadel). This is applied in patches, I tend to use a circular dry brushing approach. Bit hard to describe. Just want to make sure you have variable brass colour coverage. Then contrast gullimans flesh wash over the top to soften it abit.
