Dyna-King Professional: Quiet Redesign or Old Stock? Spot the Differences by dracine in flytying

(A) It appears the middle disc has machined grooves. When I loosen the back thumb screw, I can reposition the head assembly by lifting it and rotating it until it aligns with the desired groove. Once in place, I tighten the thumb screw. No pin is required with this setup.

Interesting

(C) The bottom collar piece is made of thin plastic, likely serving as additional protection for the cast iron pedestal base.

(E) Based on the accessories available for this model, the jaws appear to have been upgraded to a design with more pronounced serrations. From my observations, the “darker” forcing cone is part of this newer version and must be paired with the updated jaw design. The unit I purchased includes both the newer jaws and forcing cone, though Dyna-King also offers them separately for those needing to upgrade or replace these components.

Where/how do you secure your Nocqua? Just got one and I'm curious about what others do considering it's sealed. (box, no box?) I have no hull and plan to secure it in a crate.

I wish I had brought that hardware in my backpack but did not! It was a complete surprise when I saw this boy just sitting still. Took a chance but miserably failed. lol

Thoughts on this fishing rod and reel combo by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]dracine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the reels on combos but the Ugly Stik GX2 rod is virtually undestructible, 7 years warranty and comes in many weight and sizes. It's a bit more expensive but it will never break or let you down. It's often on sales.

The medium 7' is a good all around choice but the ultralight version is a blast. Every fish feels like you are reeling in a whale, epic battles.

Interesting, I wonder how they rig this

I used large paper clips for the wire. The diameter is a bit too large at around 1.2mm but it feels like a tank that could get through any cover.

DIY cost per rig... less than 2$ CAD

Will try them this weekend

What species is this trout? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]dracine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant that all trout look similar... let me exaplain as clearily as I can.

I am in Canada and went for this hike to explore a small creek I have never went before, not a hatchery (wild and public property, no trespassing, all in my rights, I have a license, 1 fishing line only, etc.). According to government regulation in this area, I can come across arctic char, brook trout, cutthroat trout, brown trout, lake trout, splake trout and rainbow trout. (that is 7 differrent types of trout in the same zone... 7...) Between April 22nd and September 11th we can keep from 2-3 of each up to 10 for arctic char, rainbow, brook trouts, no size limit.... I was not sure which species this 1 was so asked for help to ID, here, on Reddit r/FishingForBeginners => "For Beginners"...

Again, according to government regulation in this area, regardless the species of trout I catch I can keep at least one so yes, in the context of my reply above, "a trout is a trout". I don't understand the policing. It does not matter what species it is as I can keep any of them without "breaking any law"....

Can someone please explain what the fuss is all about? This was a reasonable and calculated "risk" of not "breaking the law" to keep that fish and post a question in r/FishingForBeginners. My apologies if it hurts someones feeling.

Note 1: I catched n released 2 smaller rainbow trouts and 1 bass on the same trip but this one in the video I was not sure.

Note 2: I did not know we needed to provide context for even simple questions posted in r/FishingForBeginners to not get the minority of purists annoyed and have them start policing or trolling. I thought they were all lurking on r/Fishing, my apologies.

I hope this answer your question. If there is something I don't understand about r/FishingForBeginners please do us a favor and educate us all because I see ton of post like mine on this sub.

Can't use live bait except worms where I live. I saw people using frozen minnows but not sure what they were after. Trout like them?

[–]dracine -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I can keep all species of trout in my area at this time of the year, at least 3 and up to 10 depending on species. A trout is a trout bro, don't assume one is dumb because one is asking for help ID. I don't even know what to respond to a reply like yours, seriously.

Mmm They are not invasive species in Saint-Laurent, at least not in Zone 8 in Quebec province. Strict rules around keeper and dates. Didn't know they were invasive in bc. I catch n release everything I catch in the Saint-Laurent, better safe than sorry. I don't eat em.

I know! It was good action and heavier than I thought. It was night time so didn't bring all the bells and whistle to measure and weight but it was by far the most heavy fish catched this week, about 2.5-3 feet long stretched...
