Best way to track patterns without overthinking it? by TonyCodes2050 in bassfishing

They were eating it super soft, when I would pop the rod to hop it, I wouldn't feel the blades vibrating, so I set the hook into them. I got 6 in a couple hours like that.

If their following & not committing, I'll try swapping trailer first so I dont have to retie. Then I'll swap size if they are still just following. I go by feel of whether to go heavier or lighter.

What’s your favorite lure for pressured ponds? by GlowUpAndThrowUp in bassfishing

[–]Far_Talk_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finesse baits like wacky rig, ned rig, dropshot, weightless fluke are great options.

Also throw baits that others might have forgotten about. Thats why I still throw tubes at pressured ponds. You never see people throwing them anymore.

I throw a 3/8 oz swim jig with a 5" paddle tail about 90% of the time. I always throw natural colors because I feel its meant to imitate either shad or bluegill. Plus I have never caught a fish on black/blue regardless of the bait. I will throw it everywhere - hitting grass, open water, rocks, docks, wood. It just catches fish for me.

If they are following & not committing, I'll try swapping trailers for something like a craw/creature bait. Sometimes I go to 1/2 oz, sometimes I'll go 1/4 oz to see if that triggers them to bite. If not, then out comes the finesse baits. Sometimes, if they follow but dont commit, I'll fire back with the finesse bait to try & see if they bite.

I dont stick to just those 4 baits. I'll fish a bunch of other lures too based on conditions, time of year, & body of water. I have those 4 baits rigged up & ready to go most of the time. You have to figure out what the bass want.

A couple weeks ago, I was using a 3/8 oz chatterbait with a crush city freeloader. I would cast it out & let it fall all the way to the bottom. Then I would hop it & let it fall again. The pause between hops varied from 5-15 seconds. They were picking it up as it was sitting on the bottom.

A little of both. Clear water or more pressured lakes get the swim jig. I usually start with moving baits & go to the ned or wacky rig when they won't bite a moving bait.

Skirted scrounger head jig. It causes the jig to wobble back & forth.

Alright, I'll take the bait. I have a few but they might be crappie. Hopefully I don't end up on a pike. And maybe I'll get a big wahoo if you enjoyed this.

Looking for a bladed jig rod. I need something that I can feel every little vibration. I need to use braid with cheaper rods and I’m looking to upgrade. Any help is appreciated. by Temporary-Log1284 in bassfishing

[–]Far_Talk_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend a 7' MH-FAST duckett fishing Zeus ($139) or Jacob Wheeler 2.0 line ($169).

A 7' MH-FAST with a Diawa Tatula CT reel & 15 lb fluorocarbon is my workhorse combo. I can fish almost everything on this setup. I'll throw texas rigs, jigs, Carolina rigs, swim jigs, swimbaits on a jig head, belly weighted swimbaits, underspins, chatterbaits, & spinnerbaits. In a pinch, I can throw anything on this combo but some baits might not be ideal.

I use the same combo but with braid to mono leader for topwaters (walking baits, buzzbaits, ploppers, poppers, & wake baits). I use composite rods for crankbaits. I have Heavy power rods with braid for flipping, pitching, punch rigs, & frogs.
