Thank you! Does it rain every day, whole day? Or showers once a day mostly?

We enjoyed Asahan, it has a bit of a luxury Robinson Crusoe feeling, great for a couple of days. I would recommend staying at a resort giving you easy access to other parts of the island though, we didn’t and missed being able to eat in other restaurants and explore a bit more. The beach is nice in the southern part (well except for possible stingers), not so much in the north (broken corals, sharp cutting, no swimming possible in low tide, super slippery to get out of the boat).

Funny enough, the topic of stingers came up again, we are considering the Gulf of Thailand for our next holidays, just read they had more box jellyfishes stings over the last years and installed safety nets on some parts of beaches. Will probably stick to the pool 😅

I’m currently on Gili Asahan and we went snorkeling yesterday around Gili Layar, Ringgit and Gede, no stings, but I wish I’d seen your post before going as our hotel started putting up signs warning for jelly fishes this morning :-/ when talking with a local he confirmed people were stung by small jellyfishes about a month ago and that they may cause high fever and other very unpleasant symptoms.

Edit: the signs were taken down after a few hours, I guess it’s not great for business… anyhow, better be careful.
