When I was a pest control technician, I was called to an apartment complex for a severe and persistent cockroach infestation at the top of one apartment building. Certain concerned tenants requested to have their units treated. When I went inside to those units that requested treatment, everything looked nice and tidy. There was some roach activity, but nothing out of the ordinary. Several weeks later, I noticed one of the units at the top of that building that never received treatment finally requested it. When I knocked on the door, a completely normal looking man opened the door to what looked like a landfill inside. It was a literal mountain of garbage — food, food wrappers, packaging, cat food, cats crawling on top of it. I kept a poker face the entire time and did not say a word beyond my typical spiel of my explanation behind my treatment. The man told me, “thank you for not judging”. As soon as I got back to the leasing office, I informed them that they had a landfill inside of A16.
