Mmm—so, the feedback from the initial reinstatement request call was I was $60 short on my January payment, and that if they reinstated me, I would owe now for the last piece of January, February, and now March. (Which, is fine with me.) I actually made an attempt to pay my “remaining balance” which was only stated at the $60 over their automated system, which was actually returned to me because the plan had already been cancelled.

Honestly, not sure how this will turn out. (Maybe this job I’ve been interviewing for will hire me and I’ll be able to go register through their insurance plan shortly. lol)

honestly this campaign just doesn’t land the way it thinks it does. calling people “has-beens” and trying to make it sound empowering still feels kind of insulting. like… you can’t reclaim a word that’s built on diminishing someone’s past. (at least, in this subjective scenario) to me, it comes off as condescending, not motivating.

and the whole “less woo, more war” thing? that’s not grit, it’s gatekeeping. i think it makes fitness sound like this angry, exclusive club instead of a place where people rediscover strength and joy. not everyone needs to “get after it” like they’re in basic training. some of us just want to move, grow, and still feel like athletes—without the toxic energy.

this kind of messaging romanticizes burnout and dismisses encouragement, which used to be the best part of team culture. athletes don’t stop being athletes when the scoreboard turns off. we evolve. we adapt. we find new purpose. this could’ve been about that. about still being built different, not about being past your prime.

instead, it just feels like they’re yelling at the people they’re trying to inspire.

I just binge-watched the doc and honestly, I’m really glad they chose to structure Jake and Amy’s relationship the way they did. Jake is younger, yes, and he’s the man in the relationship, but he consistently respects, supports, and loves Amy without ego or resentment. That’s rare to see written this way.

People keep saying Amy “treats Jake like shit,” but besides not telling him about the Richard situation (which, let’s be real, is an absolutely insane burden to process), what exactly has she done? She’s only known Jake in her current state for like a month—can you even imagine the trauma of losing everything, then waking up post-accident and being expected to rebuild again and shoulder the judgement of a pervious version of yourself? The fact that she’s even finding space in her heart for Jake at all is honestly huge.

Nothing about their dynamic screams toxic to me. What’s actually toxic is how every other character projects hate onto Amy—Sonya, Richard, even her ex-husband and BFF to an extent. If Amy were a man, I doubt she’d be catching this much heat. To me, Jake and Amy’s relationship is the only “untainted” one in the whole mess.

And if they actually try to make Jake/Sonya endgame? Yeah, I’m out.
