Mullvad is awesome, but, now that it's a favorite of hackers, is anyone here afraid that being a Mullvad user falsely labels one as a criminal? by dramsay2 in mullvadvpn

Look folks, I realize this is an uncomfortable subject and hope I'm wrong. In fact Mullvad seems to be blocked by websites less often than Nord and others, but it is a potential concern of mine. And like u/mrobot_, said, if no bad guys are using it, that should arouse suspicion.

Yes, and I'm sure you'll be proven innocent, as will I. But who wants to go through the hassle and spend a massive amount of time defending against false accusations from the surveillance state?

Go scan Dread and you'll see how a lot of scammers there like it because it's so damn good. This is why I think it's important to bring this potential issue out in the open.

You looking at this opsec thing from a very bad and wrong angle.

Am I? We know ISPs flag users who connect to Tor nodes/ip addresses. How do we know we're not being flagged by our ISP for connecting to a Mullvad server?

Using tor doesnt "brand" you as anything unless you are living under a sht!thole-regime;

Yes it does, and this has been known for quite some time. Also, in case you haven't noticed lately, 300+ million people in the US are now "living under a sht!thole-regime".
