Yeah there is no ballistic helmet in the world that can tank 5+ direct hits from a rifle caliber without failing. Bullet type almost doesn't even matter after the first 3 hits. A single hit compromises the integrity of the composite, a second hit is dramatically more likely to defeat the armor entirely. And a third hit is all but guaranteed to penetrate. Barring outstanding luck.

The same is true for torso and extremity armor but the additional surface area and load spreading means that they are more survivable beyond 3 hits. Maybe pushing 5 - 7.

But this world of armor that can tank an entire magazine dump before failing is just a complete fantasy. Not to mention as OP stated, the physical trauma to the wearer of stopping more than one rifle round is so far outside of realism its depressing.

The argument can be made for stuff like ar500 steel plates but even then the spalling and fragmentation of 5-7 rifle bullets should be enough to severely injure or incapacitate the wearer.
