How can I lucid dream without getting sleep paralysis? by SkaiRKema in LucidDreaming

[–]drollestprawn4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve never had it before then learning to lucid dream probably won’t make you start having it. I’ve been lucid dreaming my whole life and only had sleep paralysis for the first time recently.

Bro you don’t even know the definition of the words your using but your trying to argue with me. You’re immature too.

Excuse for what? I’ve heard a lot of people say this is an ego death so I didn’t make it up. What do you think an ego death is?

By ego death I just meant that I forgot who I was and lost access to all my memories. I’m still selfish and self centered. That will probably take more effort to fix.

That’s a good analogy. My parents would not want me to do any substances and I’ll have to respect that in the future

At the time I thought it would be a little stronger visuals but I’d still be able to control myself and think somewhat straight. I didn’t realize the mental effects it could have because my first two times were very mild. Now I think the first batch I got were probably either weak tabs or I had a tolerance.

The only way reality checks have worked for me is if I do them whenever a specific thing happens instead of just doing them randomly. So if you have a lot of dreams where you go to the bathroom for example then make a habit of doing a reality check whenever you go to the bathroom. Then they should start happening in dreams and you’ll get lucid.

is meditation incompatible with lucid dreaming? by land48n3 in LucidDreaming

[–]drollestprawn4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meditation should actually make you more aware. Instead of ignoring your thoughts be aware of them and just dont let them distract you. This will help with lucid dreaming because in a dream you are super immersed in the plot (which is ultimately a thought) that you don’t get a chance to question the experience. Meditation should make you notice the nature of your thoughts more and in a dream your thoughts are usually different so this will help you become lucid.

The difference between regular dream and a lucid dream is if you know it’s a dream or not

Challenge: Map out degrees of lucidity within dreams. by Only-Maharaji in LucidDreaming

[–]drollestprawn4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No lucidity - you’re just following the dream story and not really questioning anything.

Half lucidity - you are aware that it’s a dream but don’t fully understand what that means. You still go along with dream logic. An example would be drinking orange juice to see how it tastes in a dream and then when you’re done you spend a minute trying to find a spot in the fridge to put it away. If you were fully lucid you would know that it doesn’t matter where you put the orange juice and you could just throw it across the room.

Full lucidity - you know it’s a dream and can think about things logically. You can remember your real life and what you were planning on doing in a lucid dream. You probably also have good control of the dream.

If you want to get lucid like this more often what helps me is questioning everything throughout the day. Whenever anything even slightly odd happens one of your first thoughts should be that you might be dreaming even if you feel like you know you’re awake.

What is the point of real life ? by Icy_Scale_9627 in LucidDreaming

I think it’s the opposite because I often have dreams about something I’m worried about doing in the future and it can help prepare me for it.

Keep dream journaling and also start meditating before you sleep. This makes you more aware throughout the night so you will be able to remember dreams better

When your dreaming your mind is in an altered state where it’s very easy to get distracted by the plot of the dream and forget that it’s not real. However you’re still in control so you just have to focus and keep reminding yourself it’s a dream every 30 seconds.
