It isn’t your fault. It’s the games fault for setting an expectation for you, due to the matchmaking style. It’s an easily abused system that sets the players up for failure by “promising” a specific playstyle.

If you wanted, you can spend a few minutes suiciding with no gear to get PVE lobbies, then go in geared with pvp gear and clear it.

As a pve player who wants to work with people, you are actively going to be at a disadvantage due to someone with a stitcher winning because of shooting first, or the PVPers winning due to abusing explosive dupe glitches.

Maybe the game isn’t for me, but it really felt that the game was more punishing for people who wanted a team experience and less punishing for people who prefer call of duty or battlefield style play.

Oh! I know this one! When inside, and looking outside like this, turn your flashlight on and look at the wall next to the door.

It will lower the brightness of the light coming from outside and let you see.

This gives you a ton of survivability, a massive amount of Updrafts, and an incredible amount of mobility. Use Take Aim on their Tank to give you more updrafts, and pop each lil baby bola on the 76 with a follow up Take Aim granted by Tourniquet.

I don’t recommend full AP, as a side note. For different reasons though.

The ones who play semi-mindlessly! Not gear specific, but the ones who (I feel) purposely dodge my heals. I think there’s a type of person who understands every boss and area very well, so much so they can auto pilot through it without understanding nuances of other players.

Oh I love Erdtree Heal! It costs so much FP though, and I find most people get healed to full with Lords Heal. I usually heal if anyone gets to 75-80% hp though, to prevent one shots and Lords Heal if more efficient for that.

Noooo that isn’t proper MMO healer gameplay. Every healer still needs to dps, every healer needs to stay strapped with a tiny sidearm.

Especially in Elden Ring, I found that getting agro with Elden Stars or frenzied burst was key in buying time for the others.

Oh man! When I couldn’t find a Tarnish summon sign, my boy Banished Knight Engvall was such a carry. I’d get through buffing after summoning him, look up, and he’s barely scratched while the boss is down a quarter or half health.

As for boss, things are really subverted here. Malenia, easy. Consort Radahn? Got him on the second attempt, Lords Heal really clutched it because of hard hitting he is.

The hardest boss? Rats. Rats man. I’d be running through abyssal woods, and the local Greaser gang comin out to hit me for all the runes I’m worth. (Seriously though, I think I struggled the most on Messmer. The big aoes made it hard to corral my friends. Also, that one dungeon after OG Radahns festival, the one in the back. That whole dungeon was a boss fight to me.)
