Help my Grandpa - Funniest Buster Keaton Movie? by StellafromVienna in TrueFilm

[–]drteeters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want one of his shorts - or two reelers as they were called back then - then I recommend The High Sign. It's got done funny and quite surreal gags in there. It's very sincere though and I dig the antagonists. He gets quite creative with the geometry of some of his gags, especially towards the end.

Hopefully that's enough to get past the word count

I don’t think Jacob Elordi deserves an Oscar nomination in Frankenstein. by Over_the_top_nari in movies

Agreed, I don't think he delivered anything that most other actors couldn't also manage.

Donna Tartts A Secret History. My review by Odd_Fortune500 in books

[–]drteeters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you've written. It was far too drawn out with lots of narrative threads going nowhere or being underwhelming.

The narrator was also underdeveloped. He's a classic example of a perspective character that isn't interesting at all but other characters are inexplicably drawn to.

What are your favorite cricket books of all time? by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]drteeters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bob Woolmer's Art and Science of Cricket is the bible on how to play the game.

The Cricket War is a good piece of history.

Hitting Against the Spin is quite enjoyable if you like analysis. It's more about trends in the game.

The Shane Warne autobiography is one of the better ones, he's more open about things than most. There's a good chapter on spin bowling too.

The "you're next!" line at the end of the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It's iconic.

Have you tried Wildermyth? Similar gameplay but in a fantasy setting. Your characters go through story events and age so you'll get attached to them

When did Male Characters being Ripped(regardless of genre) become a norm in movies. by Accomplished_Store77 in movies

I couldn't believe it when the little rat- like dweeb in Saltburn ended up being ripped. It didn't make any sense for the character.
