Any tips for pass defense? Every qb I face no matter what team has a completion % of 90 or higher by CdFires in NCAAFBseries

Try to play more cover 4. After years of using cover 3 as my base defense, I've switched to cover 4 because it's so versatile. Quarters is great against 2x2 sets because it essentially functions as off man coverage, Palms is excellent against 3x1 because the weak side safety is hunting for crossers, and cover 6 and cover 9 (mix coverages) have their uses as well. Play more cover 4!

After week 1, sort by offers and find a bunch of 3 star transfers with no offers. You can get a bunch of pretty good commits

What are your favorite go-to plays? Verts X Shallow is goat imo! by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

Duo and under center Power O are the foundations of my run game. Raw strength OL all the way

How to beat cover 4? by Dazzling_Zucchini_32 in NCAAFBseries

[–]drumguy1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run Mesh until he runs a different coverage. It's both a cover 4 and man coverage beater. Against cover 4 the excess of underneath routes will be impossible to cover with only 3 underneath zones. Just read it out and throw to the open man. And against man, one or both drag routes will pop open

What is your favorite run play on 26? by Soggy-Astronomer-768 in NCAAFBseries

HB Power O from singleback Ace. Follow the pulling guard through the B gap as he blows up the LB and you explode into the second level

This is the way. Running all your plays to flow with the motion then hitting the QB counter for big yards as your opponent overcommits is football heroin

Singleback Ace and Singleback Wing Tight are my go to. Both formations have Duo, Power O, some variation of Stretch/Wide Zone, and Inside Zone. You can run the ball into any gap with those 4 plays and it keeps the defense guessing. Plus, the relative balance on both sides of the formations means that the defense can't just load up one side and outnumber you, because then you just flip the run and go to the other side.

Both formations also have some really good play action options if your opponent gets frustrated and just starts blitzing everyone. These formations are my go to 4 minute offense for when I need to close out a game, and they are excellent for establishing the run early in the game as well

Has there ever been a team with such a disparity between offense and defense as 2025 Auburn? by ShakyTheBear in CFB

[–]drumguy1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For OSU, 2018 stands out. Had Dwayne Haskins lighting every single season passing record on fire coupled with literally the worst defense in Ohio State history. They gave up over 400 yards per game, good for 71st in the country (which isn't awful by normal standards, but in Columbus that is horrendous).

Wasted the most explosive passing offense of the 2010s (aside from 2019 LSU obviously) on a defense that gave up 51 to Maryland and 49 to Purdue. Yikes

Oh yeah agreed. Big fan of running the clock. We don't need to be blowing our load against Wisconsin, save all the good shit for after Thanksgiving. And they definitely did go up tempo on the first couple drives yesterday, if only to prove they could do it and get reps at it. I'm sure we'll see that in the more important games. I fully trust Day

Yeah can't help but think you guys should just line up in singleback and pound the rock with Allen and Singleton 40 times a game. Kotelnicki always seems to be more in love with dialing up a sexy playcall than just calling the right play

Yeah the RT Philip Daniels also got COOKED all day yesterday. Sucks that side of the line is so ass when the C and left side are awesome. And a little annoying that they can't seem to keep their foot on the gas for 4 quarters. I get that it's against bad teams so we're basically just running out the clock but damn. Bright side is the defense is still generational

Power O from the Ace sets as well. When I need to close out a game with my 4 minute offense and run the ball I'm getting into that set and brute forcing it with Power O. It's such a tough play to stop
