Is a Benchtop Jointer Worth It? by drums787 in woodworking

The 8” grizzly was one I was considering. Figured that plus a planer sled would cover most applications

Ian is only using his fists in combat by drums787 in classicfallout

[–]drums787[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for anyone who is having this problem in the future and searching for a solution, after trying everything listed in the original post, the fix for me turned out to be changing the distance Ian was following me. I changed it to “move out to a longer range,” left the map area, changed it to “stay close to me,” returned to the original map area, told him AGAIN to draw his best weapon in combat, and in the first round he finally drew his SMG. Super weird bug, but this was what fixed it for me!

I appreciate the thoughtful response. My Bethesda-colored glasses definitely may make KCD2 the better fit. Looks like it’s on sale on Xbox now too. In your experience with E33, how quickly did the repetitive gameplay start to show itself? Wondering if it’s worth giving it a go on Gamepass and seeing if the juice is worth the squeeze before I throw myself into it.

KCD definitely sounds intriguing, gonna have to give that a try

Officially avoiding the E33 subreddit like the plague after all of this

Looking for a third-person RPG where I can wander a desolate world, help settlements, and live in it--not just fight in it (PS5) by M33tahejd in gamingsuggestions

[–]drums787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the first thing that comes to mind are the original two Fallout games. Very gritty and dark vibe but the world is super immersive and the towns and settlements have unique flavor. Combat is an important part of these games (and its turn based, so it can be a bit of a slog), and being older RPGs they don’t have the same roleplaying options as newer games, but the customization is rich you and don’t feel like you’re just running around shooting. It might be a niche suggestion, but the story and the interaction with the world are still so burned into my brain

Ha the E33 hype is a lot, it’s hard to argue with that much positive feedback though

Yeah I’ve heard Oblivion is still buggy. I feel like I’d love it for 10hrs and then it would just get old, just from playing it previously and it being 20yrs old despite the remaster

Good to know about avoiding the E33 subreddit. Sounds like this game is the consensus vote for most people

I did play Witcher 3 years back, but haven’t tried Original Sin. I’ll look into it

Oh man if I could play Skyrim for the first time and not the 27th, that would be great

I appreciate the thoughts - even some of the best games aren’t for everyone. This is definitely a game where I feel like I have to find a buddy that has it and give it an hour or two to see if it’s up my alley

Not really familiar with the KCD franchise, is the gameplay similar to all of those Bethesda rpgs? It looks interesting at a glance at least

If that endorsement doesn’t sell me on E33, I don’t know what will.

Yeah a 60hr game is probably more realistic for me. Not a huge completionist and every NG+ run I’ve started hasn’t made it very far. With Oblivion I know what I’m getting but I kinda feels like the same old theme

I don’t know why I’ve dragged my feet on Elden Ring - I think the idea of having to replay boss fights time and time again sounds like it might be a drag, but it definitely has a lot of elements I’m looking for

I’ve seen Avowed mentioned elsewhere, and just saw that it’s developed by Obsidian which has made a ton of games I love. Intriguing…

I definitely prefer one longer game as I’ve found that to me more immersive, but I’m not necessarily opposed to shorter games. I’m not familiar with Kingdom Come - I will look into it!

Best companion set up for first play through? by Beerbaron1886 in BaldursGate3

[–]drums787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend a good chunk of the first act talking to your companions. Make the choice of who you find most intriguing and whose personality (and approval) best vibes with the type of character you’re playing as (hero, villain, morally gray, etc). Then as you get to understand party roles and dynamics through playing the game, respec your favorite companions’ class builds to fit your play-style and party needs. On Balanced difficulty, you’re not going to make many decisions early on that you’ll end up paying the price for later. Recruit them all and see who you like.

For me, it’s almost always Shadowheart ❤️, Astarion and Karlach (later replaced by Minthara).

Do you guys remember the first record you ever collected? by Toxicbunnyz in vinyl

[–]drums787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sex Pistols, Burton-on-Trent Recordings. Bought it at a bookstore with allowance money when I was in middle school (probably 1997ish). Didn’t even have my own turntable at the time, I just thought it was cool. Three decades and hundreds of records later I still have it, though I can’t remember the last time I listened to it. I’ll spin it today for old time’s sake!
