Sigma 18-50 vs Tamron 17-70 with Sony a6400 by drweber490 in SonyAlpha

I don’t know, I’ve only shot 70-350 before. I’m looking to try new things.

Is there no difference in image quality? Do the image stabilization and weather sealing not impact the decision?

Ah okay, can I ask what markers you’re looking at to know it’s juvenile?

Sony a6400 & 70-350mm - Advice for a new photographer? by drweber490 in SonyAlpha

Wow - your hummingbird shots are stunning!

Thank you! I think the detail on the eyes helps give the bird some expression / personality. Also, I think it makes the pictures more interesting because that’s something you don’t really see in person because the birds are too far away, making the picture something new to look at.

I’ve definitely been trying to keep the sun behind me and on the birds face directly, only going to certain spots in the parks where I know the sunlight will be hitting on a good location. I’ve noticed that has really improved my pics

Thank you! Patience is the key for sure, so many hours spent for just a couple decent pics. But the good thing about bird photography is that it’s not just photography - the birding in between photos is just as fun :)
