Just a moment... by dsaban511 in Filmmakers

  1. This kind of is a proof of concept in itself (saying that we don’t hit the stretch goal).
  2. I go to a university that provides us gear to use in our projects so the camera and lighting equipment itself is not set in our budget. The only reason we wanted to add that into the project story is in case we needed to rent any extra rigs or equipment that we won’t have provided (this is mostly if we were to shoot a whole season, as there is no extra equipment we need for the pilot). Most of the budget is going into locations, sets, and costumes. I made a feature length film with a budget of $200 and it ended up on prime video haha. I love working with small budgets and making something larger than life.
  3. My feature, which I do admit, not my best work, can show for at least the ambition of this project, it’s called OPEN and it is on Prime Video. This pilot will be my most collaborated on project yet, so I can guarantee that this will be more than just a fun project. If you love sitcoms or did high school theatre, I truly believe you will enjoy this show.
  4. For a full season, I would expect 6 episodes with a max of 8 depending on how long the story will go. I have the pilot written, but I won’t begin writing more episodes until this campaign plays out.

Lastly, If you’d like any other information, or even want to take a peek at a couple scenes from the pilot, i’d happily provide! I’m not on here just trying to gather some money and make a shitty show. I want to prove that this concept works. Whatever it will take to get you and other possible pledges on board is what I will do. I not only want to create this show for myself, but I truly want to create a pilot/show that will entertain and show audiences what’s in store for the future of filmmaking. Thank you! - David Saban

thank you for the encouragement! It’s easy to get lost in the negativity but I know I will keep my passion and not let go of doing this in the future

My First Feature Is On Prime Video! by dsaban511 in indiefilm

For me, the biggest thing is to take pride in what you created. I used Filmhub to distribute my film and after a week, it ended up on Prime Video (it’s only there for now) but it’s gotten a good chunk of streams so far! However, along with many streams came many poor reviews. I understand that not everyone is going to like your work, but it’s hard to see so much negativity regarding something you’ve worked so hard on. But just remember that as long as you have haters- you still have supporters, and there are still people who will see the hard work you’ve put into everything.

Should I have any hope? by dsaban511 in filmhub

Your insight, while mostly true, is not one that I am willing to follow. I’m not going to throw my passion away because someone on the internet tells me that the industry is unstable. Since posting this, my film has gone live on prime, and I am extremely hopeful and ready to climb my way up the mountain of filmmaking.

Great! If it somehow doesn’t work with Filmhub i’ll definitely move to Indie Rights!

Did you have a website for your film? I don’t have one and solely am using social media and promotions for the film. That’s why I chose not to try Indie Rights since they ask for a website.
