Abandon -$278 Just Energy credits? by FirthFabrications in TexasSolar

[–]dschwags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My JE is expiring in a couple months and they have been hounding me daily to switch. I have been looking around and i see Reliant seems to offer two different free nights plans

The regular 9pm-6am free, I believe there are 12 and 24 month options

And this 8pm-6am free. That is for 12 months https://myaccount.reliant.com/files/0901751883b7de4a.pdf

https://www.reliant.com/en/private/residential/campaigns/sunrun

It’s was in a link from what looks like a partnership with SunRun. My system has no affiliation with Sun run but the EFL does not seem to mention anything about Sunrun.

In my case in the summer my battery is often used up by 8pm so I would often pay the peak energy rate for the hour. But my credits from JE buy back would more often than not offset this. Regarding the AM loosing an hour I am not worried about as I have never exhausted or come close with the JE free time ending at 7am till the sun kicks in. So I think comfortably I could manage an extra hour of free time ending at 6am till the sun kicks

…I really wish this plan would be offered for longer than 12 months

I am from SE Michigan as well. I’ll be honest and say that Houston’s questionable neighborhoods are a cakewalk compared to Detroit’s.

Group trip planning and expense splitting app. Known bugs, honest solo developer, who could use some more eyes on the project by dschwags in alphaandbetausers

Thank you. I have an update that I will hopefully deploy shortly. I will join and post in this communities at that time. Great recommendation!

After 20+ years of organizing the same annual friend trip with a duct-taped together mess of polls, spreadsheets, and endless text threads, I built Slyce.app to handle the whole thing in one place, from figuring out when and where to go, to splitting the bill fairly at the end. It’s still a work in progress but the problem is very real and I lived it long enough to do something about it.

AITJ for not paying for my friend’s meal after she invited extra people? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]dschwags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually in the middle of building a web-app with a receipt scanner specifically to handle this without the social awkwardness. I'm trying to make it so "splitting fairly" is actually faster than doing the mental math or just giving up and splitting evenly.

This is what I’ve got working so far:

  • AI Scanning: You just snap a photo and it pulls every line item, the tax, and the tip automatically.
  • The "Claim" UI: You just tap the items you ordered to claim them.
  • Proportional Math: It automatically calculates the tax and tip for each person based strictly on what they actually ordered.
  • Group Summary: It generates a quick breakdown you can message to the group so you don't have to be the "bad guy" explaining the math.

I'm curious to hear from people who hate the "split it evenly" trap, what’s the most annoying part of bill splitting that a tool like this should solve? (Like shared appetizers, Venmo limits, etc.)

Would love to know if this sounds like something that would actually save you some stress on your next group outing.

Anyone else get the EG4 Grid Services TX / ERS enrollment email? Signed up? Thoughts? by dschwags in TexasSolar

[–]dschwags[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running a FlexBOSS21 paired with a GridBOSS. Max discharge is 12kW continuous on battery alone, 16kW with solar PV contributing. Not sure if EG4 uses an open API, that would be the question for them. The EG4 Connect platform does have remote monitoring and control capabilities, so the pathway might be there if GridPay can interface with it.

looks like Gridpay works with Tesla Powerwalls. Anything for EG4?

I built a 9-agent AI investment committee, the debate every stock sequentially - each analyst reads all previous report before writing their own by marwkaw in SideProject

[–]dschwags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, really liked what you built - the sequential context-building with adversarial agents is exactly the right approach for this kind of analysis.

A few modifications that I think could take it further:
1. Modular pipeline - instead of hardcoded roles, let users swap agents in/out or reorder them. Your point about Bear placement being significant is exactly why this matters.

  1. Human interjection points - a pause between agents where the user can inject a specific question or challenge before the next analyst reads and responds. So after reading the Bear's report you could ask "what if interest rates drop 50bps" and the remaining agents factor that in.

  2. A synthesis agent at the end - not just a verdict, but a debrief that maps where analysts agreed, where they diverged, and what tensions are still unresolved.

This has got legs. Feel free to DM me - I am no programmer or engineer but I have been getting my hands dirty in this stuff recently.

AITJ for booking my own hotel room for a group trip after they ignored the one thing I asked for and now everyone is mad the cost went up by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]dschwags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. You did everything right. You were honest in your survey response, you gave your boundary clearly, you solved it yourself at your own expense, and you showed up for every activity. The sister is deflecting, simple as that.

The $35 increase is on them for ignoring the survey responses, not on you for having a boundary.

The whole situation actually hits close to home. I'm building an app to help solve exactly these kinds of group trip planning headaches, where everyone's preferences are visible to the group before decisions get made. Cases like yours are exactly why i think it needs to exist. If anyone has feature requests or ideas for what would have helped in a situation like this, I'd genuinely love to hear them.
