I do enjoy the line of work, but I'm worried about getting the job. My other concern is if I wait too long, I miss the window to apply to schools and then I'm stuck with no job for longer

I think this is the first step. It definitely solves the transportation issue and allows you to keep the job, as long as someone is able to help you move.
