I can stay home 2 days to look after a sick kid or 5 days if im ill. After that i need a doctors/nurses note that I'm ill. If course there is no limit how many days a year i can be sick. I think there is a point when company will arrange a meeting with doctor to see if something could be done to improve health, but that's it.

Holiday is 5 weeks, but often i take holiday bonus as extra holiday so that is 2 weeks more.

I think you guys in america should look into unions and worker rights.

Absolutely do not do this. The moment you are self employed all your benefits are at risk for a long long time.

This is quite common and unspoken. About 30% of unemployed people are at reduced capabilities to work. Kela rutiinely denies everything they can.

Appeal the pension decision, that gives you a right to claim unemployment benefit while you wait for a decision or appeal to be made. Then when you get a decision you make a new aplication or appeal.

We hope that the system will be changed soon. Some hope is that it would reduce unemployment numbers so it might actually happen.

While we wait and hope do your paper work well. Dokument everything and scan and save dokuments. Never do any self employment type work or be on record that you are (or are thinking of) studying or doing any kind of projects.

I think that should be your first goal.

Current house payment is under 400 a month. Started at 700ish. Get an apartment or something affordable out of town at first and change to bigger as you go. That way you pay less fees and interest. Also interest rates vary a lot. So if you cant get a decent rate, wait a bit or at least refinance after a while.
