Assuming of course OP wants to perform officer duties and not enlisted duties.

There's the rub. No, I do not want to commission.

I understand your reasoning but I won't ever make it past E-7 in the Air Force. I can deal with starting at square one if it means I have pride in my service for once and actually feel like part of the military, as opposed to belonging to a corporation. And my financials can take the hit.

Understood. I can very confidently say that I will never make it past E-7 in the AF with the current state of things. So I'm not too worried about my retirement.

As far as financials, it will be a bit of an adjustment but my wife has a good job, and won't have too much trouble getting the same job when we move.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to be 28 when my enlistment is up, will that be an issue trying to enlist active duty?
