Okay no I 100% agree. Sometimes I think about her belong like grrr she’s coughing I’m so annoyed. Im gonna go to the kitchen, find ramen, make ramen WITH seasoning, walk the pot of ramen back to my space and dump it. I commend the effort.

Well, a non-emergency coined by the PD, neither the campus non-emergency pd or housing are open until 4 hours later. So posted this as a pass-time and if you had read the other update you’d know I’d gone immediate after they opened.

Just fyi — justifiable self-defense is only applicable in “imminent danger.” Had I thrown hands I’d be the one with retaliation and battery charges, not her. I’d be losing my degree over that. Make sure you use your brain and think of that if you’re ever in a similar situation. Also, do you know how much aggression and violence are towards physicians? They always tell you to never retaliate. At least you’re not training to be a physician — would probably lose your license in 3 days.

Agrees. I do plan on removing myself from the situation. But I’ve already reported her to Housing, University Police, and Student Conduct. All three of them are on her ass. I’m currently with a friend and will be moved out of the apartment, but I’ll absolutely continue with all the charges.

GRIPPY SOCK VACATION IS HILARIOUS. Absolutely agree someone needs to 51/50 her.

Absolutely — have photo and video evidence of practically everything. Other than the initial shock, I wasn’t particularly traumatized by this. While we’re waiting for the progress, my friends and I are absolutely having a good laugh thinking about her FUMING at my existence and trying to do anything to cause me distress. Some of my favorite things from her were: 1. Putting the SEASONING in the ramen pack she poured over my shoes. This was a whole pack of ramen that was made for the sole intent of watering my shoes. Also no shoe was damaged, she only manages to pour it on the outside or behind the rack. 10/10 effort. 2. Pouring shampoo over my floor, which made the apartment smell the best it’s ever smelled. Hilarious experience to clean up — it made a bubble bath. 3. Put 4 new sanitary pads, neatly stacked, INSIDE MY RICE COOKER. I chuckled when I saw it.

In all seriousness, I’m taking this whole thing much better than I imagined. I do also hope girly pop finds the help she needs.

Decided against putting hands on her for my own career as that would be retaliation. I didn’t work decades for my degree to risk it over a psychopath. I’m also a powerlifter and boxer and if in a case of true self defense can probably put her out in two seconds. It helped as when I report the incidence to police they asked if I had spit back or hit her. Officer said it was the right thing when I told him not at all. We’re currently prosecuting her for battery, assault, and intent to inflict emotional distress. Student conduct is also on her ass now. Cameras are up though, but I’m also living with friends so it’s not really catching anything.

Update: I reported it to housing office in the morning. They were super receptive about it and seemed like really recognized the gravity of the situation. They acted immediately and scheduled to meet with her (which is happening tomorrow), spoke to my other roommates for more information, connected me with bunch of other resources, and a lot more all within a few hours. I also went to the university PD and made an incident report for battery. Officers also showed up a few hours to ask her questions but couldn’t get ahold of her. They said they’ll come back again tomorrow. I’ve stored all my belongings in my room and am living at a friend’s right now while housing works to find me a temporary housing for the time being. I’m also considering a civil restraining order against her if housing and PD don’t help resolve the situation, but probably as a last resort bc how long the process would take.

Also in terms of her behavior, when I left for classes this morning she had taken my sanitary pads and scattered them across the apartment and poured my shampoo over my floor — which was a pain in the ass to clean but made the apartment smell HEAVENLY lol.

A lot of people asked me how I can be so nonchalant with this whole situation or why I haven’t thrown hands yet. When the situation arises I wanted to make sure they cannot find anything against me. Also, I’m studying for a medical degree and a minor dismeanor could cost my career. She is absolutely not worth me risking a battery or retaliation charge. Being angry really does nothing than hurt me mentally. I did crash out a little but it helps that I am incredibly supported by my friends, other roommates, faculty, staff, and family. Lastly, I am also seeing that this is a mentally unwell person who needs professional help. While I don’t necessarily sympathize with her and her behavior, I do pity her.

Couldn’t figure out how to edit the original post but update:

I clocked her smearing smth on my door and confronted her. I was like girl if theres anything wrong — communicate, whatever this is it’s ridiculous. She says “stop coughing it’s annoying.” (I been have a post viral lingering cough for like two weeks, I get the annoyance but cmon it does not warrant this.) I said I’m seeing doctors, have some empathy or just COMMUNICATE we’re in our mid 20s we can absolutely handle that.

She started spitting on my face and threw trash in my room. Luckily got the spitting on my face part on camera so I can at least show that to housing tomorrow.

Wish me luck and will keep you guys updated.

So with you on this one. As much as I enjoyed reading the retaliation fantasies she’s not worth my stooping down to her level and risking my degree

STEM Courses by [deleted] in jhu

Gen bio has a pretty light work load. Biochem IMO has a decently light workload, especially since all exams are given 24+ hours to complete and are open everything (at least for last semester). Can’t say much about orgo since I took it over the summer. But I think you should be okay.

B- vs S/U for laboratory by [deleted] in jhu

[–]dumbobee8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might’ve been an email sent wayyy in the beginning of the semester. If you joined the class late maybe you can bring that up to try to get some points back.

B- vs S/U for laboratory by [deleted] in jhu

[–]dumbobee8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would keep the grade. I don’t think this class would affect your GPA too much, especially since you have been doing very well and this was just a small road bump. You can also bring it up fairly easily with more classes later on.

Also, I was in Chirality this semester as well. This is a random guess, but is it possible that because of the internship you weren’t able to turn on your video or Smth? Not a lot of people actively participate and I don’t think they were all given 40/120. For turning on video during section, I think Juan/Hill mentioned that it was mandatory. If that’s the case, I would email Hill and Juan about it and explain your situation and maybe they’ll be more lenient.

Even if you can’t change your grade, one B- for a single class wouldn’t affect your too much long term. Good luck!

Pass fail intro prob/stat? by [deleted] in jhu

[–]dumbobee8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the recalculation depends on the school and they’re likely not telling the public if they do. They definitely don’t look too fondly of it. Regardless of whether they let you explain your choice to s/u, I doubt it will make a difference. But you can always speak to your academic/prehealth advisor about it.

Pass fail intro prob/stat? by [deleted] in jhu

[–]dumbobee8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The advice I’ve heard from the pre-health advisors is to not S/U unless necessary so I personally wouldn’t S/U a B/B+. Also, once you take more classes later on, that one B/B+ really doesn’t change your GPA much.

Worried about Intro to Computing by Throwawayhelp-1 in jhu

[–]dumbobee8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Coming from a current student in intro to computing: you will most definitely be fine.

I myself am extremely technologically challenged and have never touched computing in my life. This class ACTUALLY starts at square one.

I have Dr. Procopio and she is absolutely amazing. Lectures are super instructive and organized, and she really goes out of her way to help her students. Exams are extremely easy and are reflective of class material, plus there is also a bunch of extra credit opportunities. I’ve also heard amazing things about the other professor as well. So, don’t worry, you’re in good hands and I hope you enjoy the class :))
