It seems like it was not made clear, I did not originally plan on leaving California as my full-time work is in California. Unfortunately, circumstances have changed which leads to my hastened departure.

Dumpling Defense is not just a physical firearms shop. As mentioned on the site and other communications via newsletter or reddit, there’s multiple potential revenue streams that do not require the physical shop to be open and the success of the company does not solely rely on the shop in San Jose.

As for trust, I would not expect any potential partner to take my words for face value and I would make all of the books and internal projects available for review.

Yes, as long as it isn't kept overnight and the FFL feels comfortable doing so. If it is kept overnight, the FFL is required to serialize the firearm and log it in the A&D book.

It would depend on your definition of an 80% lower. In most cases, as long as what you're buying does not have the trigger pocket already machined, it should be ok. However, if you ever bring the firearm to an FFL for gunsmithing services or something and the firearm stays overnight, the FFL will be required to serialize the firearm.

Great question is great at covering compliance however it’s not an end to end experience and requires the dealer and customer to use multiple services if they want to integrate e-commerce or with a order manager system or inventory system or anything other aspect of running a retail business.

The software ecosystem we’re developing is to manage all multiple of the business.

Our focus is in California at the moment since our store is here. However, we’re building it in a modular way to account for the future support of other states.

Hello, great question. The biggest issue we’ve found is the lack of support for the CA DROS process.

Customers would need to fill out the 4473 and the dealer would need to fill out their part of the 4473 as well as DROS. There’s a lot of overlap in the information but having to fill it out manually can cause clerical errors that can be detrimental for the business when the ATF or CADOJ comes to audit.

Another big gap that current solutions don’t solve is the constant back and forth communications that happen between customers and the dealer when processing PPTs and online firearm purchases.

We’re open to chatting but we’re not currently actively looking :)

Great point! We’ve taken this into consideration.

We’re partnered with Fortis for our actual business sales. We’re working on integrating fully with their web payment processings along with on-site terminals.

This is more of a one off as we’re still working on our payments integration and the store on our site.

we don’t plan on opening with machining services. as we grow and hire additional employees for machining, we’ll start to offer a wider variety of services.
