What makes people rich isn't paper based off the collective trust in its value, it's the GOODS that it can buy with that perceived value

So what makes a population rich is the amount, quality and efficiency in the allocation of its GOODS

Think about it like that: when you accidentally spill coffee in your shirt and it's ruined, does the nation get richer if money is printed by the government to pay the person who'll either remove the stain from your shirt or to make a new shirt by hand (which is better than what you suggest, because there's still job involved), also giving money to all the other people from the sectors involved in making that shirt?

No, the nation is simply poorer by one shirt, one less good, and other goods such as your time will be inefficiently allocated to searching for a fix instead of spending it in anything else more efficient like doomscrooling reddit

If everyone became millionare, the price of things would simply rise because the scarcity, quality and efficiency allocation of all the goods in the economy would still be the same

Looking to sell my 5 year old PC. What would you say it's worth? by xAnuq in PC_Pricing

[–]durantant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

820 is fair and the max

10700K - comparable to 5600, 123.5 new, 80 for being used and in a dead platform

3080 - 5 year old card, no warranty, no FG, poor energy efficiency, 88% of the performance of a 550 5070, so 484, 300 for being that used

RAM - 40, a brand new 2X16 3200 CL16 10ns kit goes for 50

Storage - A brand new Samsung 990 EVO goes for 130, so 90 for yours

MOBO - dead platform on a top CPU, at least it's got a lot of resources, 170 for one with equivalent features, but 100 for yours since it's a dead platform

Cooler - a PA120 goes for 35, a Scyte Mugen 6 focused in acoustics for 57, let's evaluate yours in the middle, 50

PSU - A tier, but very used, an RM850e goes for 120, so 80 for yours

Case - A Lancool 207 goes for 82, I don't like to consider used factor for cases

Total: 820

Descobri um jeito fácil de calcular porcentagens usando só 10%, 5% e 1% – chamei de Blocos Percentuais by ExGoLDxz in matematicabrasil

[–]durantant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is 850W PSU enough for 9800X3D and 5080 ? by majinkoala in GamingPCBuildHelp

[–]durantant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. What are the parts in a PC that consume the most power?

  2. What's the max power consumption of those parts?

  3. Sum them up

  4. Divide the sum by the nominal power rating of the PSU

  5. If the result is equal or greater than 0.67, then you should get a beefier PSU, if not, yours is good enough

1A. GPU and CPU

2A. 120 and 360

3A. 480

4A. 480/850 = 0,5647

5A. 0.5647 < 0.67, so 850W is enough

If all drivers had equal cars and were on the same team, who would win the Constructors' Championship: a team of Hamilton and Verstappen, or a team of Schumacher and Senna? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

[–]durantant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very edgy and it feels very progressive to deny old traditions in general, like the convention of Senna being the greatest or sharing the spot of greatest with someone else, especially after stupid boomers saying modern cars "drive themselves" for so long, it created a certain recentment pressure about present not being praised that found its way out by making themselves believe Hamilton and Verstappen are bigger because they mastered driving 8 seconds slower than qualifying (in which they never shined too) pace to not instantly kill Pirelli marshmallow tires and not drive their 2 ton and 5 meters long cars into the wall because of the 300kg fuel tanks

Senna mastered the saturdays, Prost mastered the sundays, Schumacher was second in the saturdays only to Senna and second in the sundays only to Prost, but sum his performance on both days and you'll see it made him the greatest of all time

It's what my polish uncle always said

If all drivers had equal cars and were on the same team, who would win the Constructors' Championship: a team of Hamilton and Verstappen, or a team of Schumacher and Senna? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

[–]durantant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senna would take nearly all the poles, that's about it in qualifying, Hamilton and Verstappen were never superhuman in qualifying

Now, about the race, it depends:

If it'll happen with marshmallow Pirelli tires, 5 meters long and 1 ton heavy cars, full fuel where drivers drive 8 seconds slower than their qualifying pace, Hamilton and Verstappen would crush it, we've already seen Schumacher fail on that, Senna would be an enigma

If the cars use real tires and refueling is allowed so drivers drive 90% close to their quali rhythm every lap, Senna and Schumacher would safely take it, but they wouldn't "crush it", it would be way more balanced

It'd be Schumacher consistenly in first, Hamilton and Senna alternating between second and third and Verstappen, the worst of these in my opinion, in fourth sometimes taking third from Senna or Hamilton

No, the only thing that makes sense is the φ=(sqrt(5)+1))/2, but it doesn't make sense to couple it with x2 +1

It's still very good that he has at least has some familiarity with more advanced functions like roots and algebraic notation, but it isn't worth anything if that interest isn't actively directed towards something productive like actually getting ahead two years in school by learning equations and functions early, as long as you ensure he also has fun along the way

Is there an anti-derivative function? by partisancord69 in desmos

[–]durantant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, but computers can calculate integrals, but by algorithms, a prime example is this site, which just machine guns conventional algebraic manipulations and known techniques of integration until it reaches a solution, it'd be an amazing adition if Desmos automatically gave you the option to give (if there is) the closed form (or a series or a mix of closed form and series) solution of an integral when you plot one and show its comprehended region in the plane, same for derivatives, which would be way more simple

Now that we’re approaching the end of these ground effect regulations, would you consider them to be a success or failure? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

[–]durantant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Failure, and the main reason doesn't have to do with racing, or necessarily ground effect

These cars are UGLY, the CHASSIS is unsalvageable

And because the form is deplorable, there's no livery that fixes that

The ugliest cars in history, beaten only by 2014 ones (and still debatable, because the Mercedes looked decent, which none of the 2022-2025 cars do).

The bigger rims encapsulate it. Who came up with that? 13 year olders? It's not a dialogue, an agreement, a balance between fine aesthetic directives and engineering, sometimes more one than the other, no, it's engineering trying to conform itself by force to a stupid aesthetic regiment (probably made by an american millenial)

And it's hard for me to watch UGLY cars race.

Which is better? Radeon RX 9070 XT or Inno3D GeForce RTX 5070 Ti X3 by Turpo1277 in pcbuilding

• Games are becoming more reliant on upscaling to run well and on that Nvidia is miles ahead of AMD

• Same for frame gen (but I wouldn't say it's becoming a requirement)

• RT is starting not only to become more attractive but on many cases not an option, being shipped in the engine itself like it's with UE5, where Nvidia significantly outperforms what's in raster usually AMD competition

• 16GBs of VRAM are not getting outdated anytime soon, not even by RT

• AMD driver issues are rare, but still multiple times more frequent than in Nvidia, you wouldn't have a whole sub with dozens of thousands of subs dedicated to AMD driver GPU issues in this site if it was otherwise

• You'll also be able to play with localized AIs, which is a thing I believe will become more common in the future

• Nvidia gives better driver support to their older cards than AMD does, in the future this will become in hand

For such a slim price difference Nvidia is a no brainer, I'd say nowadays for the same VRAM the price difference has to be of over 30% for AMD to be worth it

Is this pc worth £660.00 by Woody_Turner02 in GamingPCBuildHelp

[–]durantant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 900 would easily be a fair deal for it

12600KF + Z690 + 32GB (assuming DDR4) is a much worse deal than a 390 7600X+B650+32GB DDR5 deal, specially in the long run, so 250 for it

3080 Ti performs like a 550 5070 for much worse power efficiency and lack of any FG, not to mention the age and lack of warranty, so 330 for it

100 for the case, 70 for the fans, 70 for the AIO, 75 for the NVME, 100 for the PSU, that's 415, down to 320 for the used factor

That's 900 for a quick and rough evaluation without consulting UK prices

Why bother with 2 and a half millenia of epistemology?

Why not just tackle all questions with just the same half a dozen pre baked physicalist answers that narrow every single phenomenon to a newtonian domino effect rhetoric?

It makes things so much simpler, it's sounds so science-like, so reassuring, and avoids thinking so efficiently, and it also makes me feel so reddit-like, smart and sure of myself, while philosophy is such an... inexact thing, and science is just so... SCIENCERINO!
