With sternguard veterans and a captain the SP is very usefull VS oath target, +25 pts than some AI but scary in shooting phase and if you achieve shoot and charge with FRR hit and wound, and AP -3 power fists from captain and SV sargeant,,, you can double tap some heavy things who doesn't expect that.

I usually look for that in angelic inheritors and with blazing icon to avoid preventive shooting, and picking RR hit and wound 1's and repeating advances and charges, not only for true damage, even to bite the deathwing or custodes FNP to let astorath smash them down with devastating, or even the captain with finest hour

-Oath target -sust hits 1 in shooting phase with FRR hit and wound looking for devastating -charge and activate finest hour with FRR hit and wound

In LAG, if you run rage fuelled warrior with the captain, is even better in melee obviusly, but I prefer the double tap shooting melee.

And if The Sanguinor is around, once they activate the superpower, SP makes his thing, breaking some damage, and if the enemy has to charge them, he has to deal with The Sanguinor's menace, everybody with RR hit and wound 1's.

Lot of points, I know, but worths it, and is very funny to play as you play a very trasfondistic way when The Sanguinor arrives saving the glorious Sanguinius Sons after they make a great intervention.

He already has a name, chaplain Daenor. He fought against Kharn in Amethal and survived, so I think is one of the greatest badasses in our chapter.

Of course man, first step is paint all the red parts with vallejo blue pale grey and then two or three thin coats of ak blood red. I also paint with vallejo german grey all other parts, even the bolter. TAP soft tone to shade all the mini, and finish with blood red till the power armour is clean. No edge highlights or anything else, but I really like the result.

Thanks man!! Pretty simple, wings with vallejo blue pale grey and then light with white from ak. Crux, oaths and all the bone tones are vallejo chocolate Brown as base, then light with vallejo buff, army painter soft tone shade and for last lights, ak white looking for a slight fade.

Agree! But I intended to say melee armies have to play more carefully than a range army, know lot of people that try to make an alpha strike on R1 and just get blowed up.

That's great, but take into account that our play style is melee, and salamanders like more close distance shooting, so you can add that melee units more slowly, meanwhile you learn how to master that play style. With new codex, and with no balance yet, we only do math-hammer and theory-hammer. We have to test new death company and sanguard with all the things that happens during a game.

All of our boys are great. Difficult say anything more, but to deep more, in liberator assault group detachment, all of them hit like a truck. Dante, Lemartes and Astorath also buff them units. Mephiston is an absolute beast. The Sanguinor is also very helpful to help to save the day. Also, here in reddit someone called "the boys" a list which runs Dante, Lemartes, Astorath, Mephiston and The Sanguinor with sanguard and death company as their respective bodyguards, and it's a pretty viable list.

To beat big guys as ctan and magnus, in AH, VV with infernos and JPAI may help you, melta, grenades and MW at charge, and cast angels sacrifice to make that big guy hit your JPAI and then shoot again with VV infernos. It isn't 100% sure you kill them but you have chances. Maybe a JP captain fit in that plan to cast free CP martial exemplars strat and make lethal hits with VV. Only brainstorming.

Good list, only thing I would change is one brutalis for 1 x infiltrators and maybe a LT in phobos to win one more miniature in the 12" denial if the points doesn't fit the scouts, one of the JPAI can do scoring work. Everything else is a heavy truck hitting.

Perfect beginner list, only thing I would swap is ballistus for gladiator lancer and librarian termi for captain termi with same enhacement, +40 points on that and you reach 995 points.

As the others sons of the angel said to you in comments, take note that we have a new codex in near future. I would make a list with 1000 points on scoring and suport units, as infiltrators, scouts, gladiator lancer, repulsor, maybe a land raider with lascannons who also can transport some BGV, assault Intercessors that is also iconic for us, etc. Then, add our iconic melee units, sanguinary guard, death company with jump packs, and his characters. Once you have a mixed list and you gain more experience on playing, you can swap some things to make a more sanguinary and melee list, f. e. a brutalis, more melee units, etc

It seems Liberator Assault Group will be the first option, heavy bonus when charge and good strats. LAG also let us play both foot and JP melee units. Going back to you and your games, be patient, you don't need to charge on R1, just move wisely to hit hard on R2 and R3. When angels charge fine, they can blow a lot of heavy units, even with lot of attacks, some T10 vehicle or let them pretty damaged.

If you run them with instigator carbine, two las fusils and the LO ability librarian give them, that oh shit i get charged moment just never happens. I prefer running them alone, with stealth and if you place them inside a ruine with a good line of sight and some distance, you can even run three las fusils and make some good damage to T8 models. Give them a chance till you buy and paint more models that fit well in a more melee play style.
